It had to be Malkin or Sid, they are the only ones allowed to slew foot.....

It's a great comfort to a team to have that situation.

I was hoping that deal with Bortuzzo would have knocked Ovie out.

Huge effort by Fleury again, but the Pens lost the 1st and 3rd periods. Maybe they laid off because they were up so much, but i still think they need to finish out games strong. Isles almost made a comeback last game. Sorry for being a pessimist haha

From Joe Starkey of 93.7 the Fan:

A few people who cover the Caps said they'd never seen Ovechkin so visibly angry after a loss ...

Those who ventured into the Capitals locker room -- we sent our very own Kraigers -- said Ovechkin was beyond agitated. Kraigers tells me the session lasted about 45 seconds before a Caps PR person cut it off. Said most of the answers were two words.

For example, when he was asked where things went wrong tonight, Ovechkin snapped, "Second period."

We'll play the entire session, such it was, tomorrow on the show

When asked how upset he was that he didn’t start the game, Ovechkin answered, “Angry enough

Still convinced either a trade or KHL is his ultimate future

I thought he had a good game tonight but you can definitely tell the pressure is getting to him. He wasn't the problem tonight however. 3 lazy penalties, plus 1 that maybe shouldn't have been called, and a good PP sunk them.

That was the most engaged I have seen him this year.

I dont think there's anything wrong with sitting back in the 3rd like they did. It's a short season with a lot of games. The issue was their puck management was terrible. Those are the types of habits that lead to losses in later games.

I think the 2 against us are probably his best 2 games so far. At least from the ones I've watched.

His hitting was intense tonight. I do think sometimes that hurts him a bit because there are some situations he could use his strong core to bump a guy and take the puck away. The huge hits usually take him away from the potential puck retrieval.

I think if he increased the amount of times he hits for puck retrieval he will find himself being more dangerous offensively.

Interesting.... I never really thought of that, but yeah, that sounds right. He gets sidetracked with making the big hit and loses focus on making something happen with the puck.

Some of the talk about Orpik this year has been similar. He's no longer running around looking for hits. Instead he's focusing on his defensive assignments. Results are pretty good so far with him.

I know I'm not going out on a limb here but Ovechkin can do a lot more with the puck than Orpik can. If he makes similar adjustments in his hitting game like Orpik he could get back to that 90 point range IMO.
