That was my point. His offensive numbers are okay, but questions still remain about his ability to play in his own zone. Can he be a complete player, or will he just be another mike green (with a little less offense)
- sensarmy_11

He is much better than Green in the defensive side of the game. Also, he's much more physical.

Personally, id rather just keep the 1st rounder.

with so many injuries, and some highly touted top players in the draft...it would make sense.

At this point, any UFA and soon-to-be UFAs would be a really bad mismanagement of assets on Colorado's part. Its in their best interest to just wait out the shortened season before trading any 1st round picks.

- eddieavs

I would offload some players if I could get round 1 or 2 picks for them. We have the cap room to virtually do anything.

Vancouver was the other team trying to sign him, so yeah, he is worth it, and it would resolve your goaltending issues, he is a good # 2 center, exactly what you guys need, and gillis would keep his job. If they have to buy out loungo, he's done.
- nascarguy

Bozak is only a number 2 center on a weak team like the leafs.

4 more times than Vancouver? The Rangers. Not that they should be proud of their average.

I didn't see any comment saying O'Reilly + 2nd for PK and Eller is fair. But probably avalanche fans will.

That's roughly about right. Looks pretty even.

what are you doing man.....according to some habs fans on this site, o'reilly isn't worth crap and you could probably get him for orr and a 3rd
- sensarmy_11

he isn't worth crap because every GM and their mother knows he wants to get out of Colorado. Heatley was a much more accomplished player when Murray traded him and he got Michalek, Cheechoo and a low 2nd round pick. Michalek was pretty much the only good asset you had in return as Cheechoo was regressing for the last 3 years and he is now a minor league player.
I would feel generous and if I was Bergevin, I would offer:

Desharnais, Eller and a 2nd round pick in 2013.

The Avs would get a top 6 center to replace O'Rielley, a prospect who has decent chance of breaking out as a top 6 player and a 2nd round pick in a very promising deep draft.

You do realize that wanting to get paid, and wanting out of colorado is not the same thing right? Subban wanted his money, should i assume that meant he wanted out of montreal?

And using the heatley deal as a comparison is stupid. Heatley had a NTC, which meant he had final say on where he went. ROR is an RFA and can be traded anywhere. Your insane if you think his value is diminished even a little because he hasn't signed yet.

so unless you can rape a GM the same as your old GM was rape, you dont make any deals that can still help your club

sounds about right

- hamiltonhabfan

hab fans know what getting raked is like...GOMEZ STILL GETTING PAID 7.5 MILLION $$$$$$$$$$ - Yes Burke got raked alright - traded picks for a proven 30 goal scorer - please when your team stops paying Gomez and picking up Leaf throw aways ( Armstrong/Kaberle ) then you can worry if the leafs got raked or not!!!!!!!

LOL @soad_live and sensarmy_11

Now that was some funny reading! I hope the Avs sign this guy. He's like Drudy 2.0 and a valuable asset. I'm sorry man but Eller isn't even close to the player O'Reilly is and if you just look at stats then fine, look at this;

Eller NHL career:
170GP 26G 24A 50PTS -7 (0.29 points per game)

O'Reilly NHL career:
236GP 38G 68A 107PTS -4 (0.45 points per game)

Plus O'Reilly has more upside, brings more to the team on and off the ice and has leadership. Sherman would hang up the phone laughing and Bergevin is smarter than that.

Personally I think the Avs should do everything to sign him, then once that's done trade Stastny to PHX for Yandle. I'm NOT saying one for one but those 2 would be the "main" pieces of the trade. Then the Avs would have Duchene, O'Reilly, Mitchell and Olver as the 4 C with another top D to play with EJ.

Just my opinion.

Leaves fans please stop offering crap for gold, I mean C'mon man...All Toronto Sports need in order to become respectable teams is to get rid of MLSE. Look at the Argos, only team not managed by MLSE lol. I mean I don't even think it's funny to make fun of leaves fans anymore, just feel bad for you now.

So what does the "H" stand for on the Montreal Canadiens jersey?

"Center Hice" lol Thanks for P. Roy and Mike Keane btw, took years to recover from that, but Price is SICK!!!

Sensarmy_11 Sucks Spezza is out and I hope you guys trade Anderson soon, he's our Dany Heatley lol. And Lehner is ready!!! Plus I'd like to cheer for my 2nd team again...

I think you will be waiting a long time for Murray to trade Anderson...he's their team especially with Spezza out...wait..no even when Spezza is in..Anderson is their team.

ROR is full of potential no doubt. A good 2nd center

Eller is developing slowly but he IS developing... actually he's a pretty good 3rd center and we can expect him to be a good 2nd in a near futur.

I think Eller, Weber and a 3th is fair... a 2nd if you are harder to deal with
or Eller and Diaz can make it too

Eller + PK ... c'mon, you may not like Subban but he's a nice young puck moving D eating minutes as much as you want... finished +9 last year on the worst eastern team means he is not only good for offense but accountable on the defensive work... agree or not on it dosen't matter he will not be part of this trade... if trade there is

Well, Subban is playing right now and helping his team, while ROR still wants his Jamie Benn money. PK caved in because A) he really wanted to stay in Montreal and said so multiple times and B) saw that Bergevin wasn't someone you could fool, unlike Greg Sherman who got a history of bad trades and inflated contracts.
So, unless the Avs want to already write-off this season and tank on purpose, they will either give O'Reilly his money or get rid of a problem and try to get some assets back right now to help their very weak offense.

And while my Heatley example was not perfect (because of the NTC), you can't deny that a player trade value goes down when he publicly states that he wants to get traded.

My favourite part of this post is how he chastises unknown Leaf fans for offering crap for gold, but talks about Stastny for Yandle in the same post.

Not that Stastny is crap, but he's nothing special, not worth his contract, and would never be the main piece in a trade for Yandle. More likely he's the throw in.

Hehe, Stastny would probably benefit from a change of scenery and yes he's not worth his contract but he's better than Vermette. PHX are deep at D but not so much at C and it's the other way around for the Avs. Plus those 2 teams have history when it comes to trades. And dude, read it again... I say those 2 players plus other unknown assets would be a good deal. Offer Barrie or Elliot, draft pick who cares? PHX is moving to Quebec anyway lol

Your Predators would benefit a lot from Stastny...He's a solid 1B/2A centre that got overpaid too quickly and I think he needs a change. His time has run it's course in Colorado unfortunately.
