Good list! For me being a bit older, I've got a lot of memories of the Canucks vs Flames battles over the past 30 years. Most of which they won. That said, the Blackhawks are definitely the best rivalry we have right now. We've also had some good playoff series with San Jose and Los Angeles. And of course who could forget Boston, but they play so infrequent it's difficult to continue with the hatred. As it is with most Eastern based teams.

AV has reached his coaching shelf life if you ask me!!
- LeftCoaster

It's hard to justify firing him, his record with this current roster is pretty good. Maybe last year after the playoffs, but even then the Canucks won the president's trophy and lost to the cup winners so it would have been a tough decision for Gillis.

I think he reached it last year but was given an extension, can't see him being dismissed any time soon.

I started going to games '71-'72 season. Section E Row 1 Seats 1 & 2. Right on the ice just inside our blueline. The Flames rivalry in the late '80's was great!

Honestly, this could describe any D in the top4 this season. Edler hasn't been noticeably worse than a few others.

The entire corps has looked better the last few games. Hopefully they've turned the corner.

- Fosco

How much better would Edler be is he played pissed off? If he had Bieksa's mean steak dude would be a top D-man. Unfortunately those Europeans don't play that way. Maybe if he caught his wife cheating on him we would see a new Edler.

We only go in the off-season. Apparently, guests stay there July & August and otherwise empty the rest of the time while our friends live there and keep an eye on things year round. Best part is that it is less than an hour door to door!!

I have a set of stemless that hold half a bottle, so that's 2 bottles for 4 drinks, and his wife will be happy with his restraint to only 4 glasses.

Hopefully it's a little more exciting than recent Min-Van games, their PP usually does pretty well against us so staying out of the box will be important. I agree that this will probably be a first goal scored wins type of game in all likelihood.

The Wild are pretty good up front with Parise, Heatley, Koivu, Setoguchi, Cullen, Clutterbuck, Bouchard, etc.

If Minny comes out flying like San Jose and score 1st, I think we lose. If we hold them and play the boring defensive, wrap em up hockey, we may just win. But as someone pointed out, we'll have to see it on highlights because we'll all be asleep.

I'm hoping the Sedins get their mojo back, their cross ice passing is way to slow and predictable, Hank seems to be a step behind, and when in our defensive zone I cringe watching those 2 trying to defend. How can 2 guys that are so dominate on the boards offensively, be so terrible defensively??

The Ravens were a playoff team when they fired OC Cam Cameron. Sometimes you have to make the tough decisions, even if the optics are not good.

I think AV is a great coach we tend to judge him based on the style play of on ice product( sometimes its a yawn). He does get the job done regardless of defence first mentality. That being said a team that is able to slow the game down when it has never been faster is quite a bonus. I personally think we need more goals but right now everywhere they are hard to come by. I may not always like AV or his style but if he truly has the room.. let him run. Goalies are prima donnas if he can make it work with both I will stand for him.

Does he? I guess that depends on your definition of "the job". Every year he butchers at least one series in the post season with his horsesh!t reactionary game planning & inability to give the players continuity as far as lines/pairings/which goaltender should play. Anyone could stack Presidents Trophies with this roster.

I'll never understand how people continue to be impressed by his regular season results... Where having a "system" trumps the ability to prepare for a particular opponent. NOT the case in a 7 game series.

Agreed. A typical Minnestoa style game might actually favour us for once. The first goal will be crucial tonight. As for the Twins, I agree. Their defensive game has really dropped off since they've become top tier scorers, which is why AV almost never gives them a defensive faceoff.

Cam Cameron was just awful though(arguably the worst play caller in the entire league) and IMO coaching in the NFL is way more important than in the NHL.

I disagree with this, I don't think that these specific players are so dominant that anyone (coach) could have captured back to back regular season trophies. There are certainly some special players, but many overachieved while some have simply lived up to the expectation.

I agree, strategy is not an AV strongpoint and he makes some stupid decisions.

And he's doing it without Kesler and Booth plus the whole goalie distraction, I have to give him some respect for that. It's not like the Sedins are just carrying this team either.
