I would not have given Pominville for Brown, Brown is a physical player but won't score as much as Pominville.
- SABRES 89

Brown's career stats in goals:

GP - 603 Goals - 166

Pominville's

GP - 551 Goals - 181

Not a huge difference really.....and Brown almost played 3 full seasons before hitting his stride. Also he has not scored less than 22 goals in the past 5 years, and has a career high is 33 goals.

Brown is a true leader, and we do not have that on this team. Pominville is a poopty leader.....he is the type if guy who will say "its hard to win" and "I thought it was good that we narrowed it down to a one goal game" during an interview after a loss.

THE TEAM IS TAKING ON THAT PERSONA

OMG why why why why why why why did you know make this trade Darcy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pominville is a nice player.....but he is not what this team needs, we need a Brown type player and to think we could have had him!

- rustbelt82

Pominville>Brown....

we would have even less scoring on this team... we can acquire all the tough physical forwards we want but they don't score like Pommer can..

I respect your opinion but I wouldnt make that trade either if I was Buffalo. We could do it right now if we wanted, L.A. covets Pominville.

I don't think people around here appreciate just how good Pominville is.

solid 30goal scorer, 70 points a year and plays hard night in night out.

Brown is awesome, don't get me wrong. But Pominville does so much for your team. He's not physical like Brown, but does so much more. I can't think of a more consistent player over the past 6-8 years for Buffalo.

And a very classy player. Has it won us the Cup? No. But you add a guy like Brown to a team with a Pominville.

I am sorry.. I just cannot agree with you here... trading captain for captain is just unheard of.. I like Pommer more than Brown...

Brown has a Stanley Cup....just saying

This team needs a culture change and that deal would do the trick.

Homer, any idea on how the Sabres brass feel about Stafford? He has been beyond disappointing. I bet we could get a solid stay at home d-man with a mean streak for him and some change.

Pominville
- Homer

I would've done that at the time
That was before we got Ott and were severely lacking toughness...
Not sure I'd do it now,
But it would be tempting...
We still aren't tough enough IMO

If we could somehow turn Stafford + into someone like Brown, Callahan, etc... That's a dream scenario for me

What would that "+" have to be?
Probably something significant....
Maybe a defenseman and a pick... Who knows?
I'm prob just dreaming anyways

I do like that I'm hearing Sabres trade rumors coming from real sources like CBC & CNN/SI

I think we all need some kind of move to be made soon

And he doesn't play physical. He plays a very smart game, but he doesn't smash into guys or go right through them. It's not always exciting, but he's solid.

I do wish he projected more leadership though. I guess he leads in his own way and we aren't in the locker room. But I want to see more emotion. Get mad. Get in someone's face. Take charge.
