Don't worry snow has no financial restrictions. We hear that once a year from him

the crappy thing is that you can have that and still suck - see Buffalo. This is why I'm not optimistic a new owner would change anything. A new gm would definitely make changes but I'm not sure they'd be good ones. It would just be nice to see Snow make a big move bringing in someone proven and still young enough to contribute for more than one season. I have a feeling KO could turn into a 30 goal scorer on another team, but the longer we hold onto him the lower his value becomes. I'd package him, Streit and a 1st if we could get a proven scorer that could play with JT or a legit top 4 defenseman that can actually play defense. Problem is...is that even enough?

And when can we have an honest discussion about "the rebuild"? This rebuild sucks. It's dogs**t. This will be the sixth straight bottom five finish for this team. This year will be the fifth year in the last six they finish in the Atlantic basement if it happens. Where is the progress?

I'm tired of reading BS by bloggers and posters about this rebuild being on course or on pace. Who's pace? Who's course? LA, Chicago and Pittsburgh all rebuilt their teams and won championships in the amount of time the isles have undertaken this "rebuild". Yet, the isles are nowhere close to a championship or even to being a contender six seasons after starting the rebuild.

We hear about all these prospects. Lee, Nelson, strome, reinharts, mayfield, etc. do any of them have high ceilings? After all these bottom five finishes, where are all of our high end players. Hamonic and JT are all we have to show for five years of bottom five finishes?

I'm completely disenchanted with this team. They provide the same miserable product year on and year out. They repeat the same process every summer and unbelievably expect a different result. The problem with this rebuild are the fools running it. It will never get on course with the same people who have been running it the past six years.

The kings, hawks and pens all missed the olayoffs for at least 7 straight years

I'm not going to debate owners personal net worth, because its irrelevant. As for " operating costs", I don't know the difference but if you think Nashville Nashville has has a better team, better results and consistency at the GM and coach positions because they have lower operating costs, I don't know how to respond to that.

You trivialize the Phoenix example. Say what you want, but I'd rather have the Phoenix results of the past few years than ours, and they did it with a limited payroll, venue and ownership uncertainty. Far better results with significant obstacles than the isles have produced.

They are not comparable... Either one. Nashville has more money to spendand a nice arena... Speaking of which, I m not sure what your point is in mentioning the Coyotes stadium. . It's a fantastic building that's less than a decade old and seats 19k.. It blows NVMC away. Both Nashvilleand and Phoenix are not comparable to the isles situation.
I understand the dissatisfaction overall that this team does not appear to be vastly improved but the isles situation is totally unique and not comparable to otherteams

I dont get why people are still bringing up the TT trade. Its obvious what his cap hit was brought here for. Snow is ANTICIPATING not making the playoffs and shipping off anything he can to shed salary at the end of the year for draft picks. Snow knows the most likely outcome is that he will have to send streit, vis, and whoever else packing. And with this type of mentality from your GM it leaks down to the players on the ice.

I wouldn't call it a failure. What I would say is that the prediction was a gross underestimate of what needed to be done, considering:

- Milbury left worse than an expansion team in his wake- you know when you have an expansion team, and you can either suck for five years building a real team, or you can try and sign (or trade your draft picks for) a whole bunch of mediocre players to try to "make the playoffs" in one of the first couple of years of existence? Yeah, we were the latter....for about six years prior to Snow being hired. It's bad enough to have to paint the whole house, but if you have to clean the walls and throw out 3 dumpsters worth of garbage before you start painting, it can really slow down the process.

- Snow did not grasp the magnitude of difficulty there would be in terms of getting free agents to sign here, which is ridiculous, considering he played his home games in the rat-infested cesspool for a couple of years prior to being hired. It's like we all say- after you get TO Long Island, you tend to love Long Island. Before you get to Long Island, all you see is one of two ancient hotels, and a building that should have been bulldozed during the Clinton Administration. Add the losing to that, and it's no wonder this process is taking longer than he thought.

That said, his other problem, in my opinion, is that he has drafted/acquired FAR too many of the identical type- fast and smallish players who aren't tough along the glass. Then the guys he adds who bring toughness to the table largely can't play, and are useless in any other capacity. He has drafted FAR too many forwards, and not nearly enough defensemen. As I said, much as I think Strome is going to be a solid NHL player, he's more of the same aforementioned body type, and I really think he should have taken the opportunity to add a pick by moving down a spot or two for Hamilton, just for one example.

This team needs more emphasis on talented toughness and defense, both in terms of personnel and in terms of the coaching aspect of things- this would definitely speed up the process.

Took me awhile to get back and read this. Fighting a bad case of the flu. But I had reply to your post. Simply stated, it was excellent.

I cant find a thing that I disagree with except that if its not a failure and not a success then what do we label it? Incomplete?

Observe your lines that I highlighted. This IMO sums up most of our problems.

Even now during our 5 game losing streak. Who gets benched? Our tough players. They are either benched or hurt. Granted they arent the most talented but they know their roll and serve a purpose.

(did you notice the Wild came back from a 4 goal deficit in the 3rd period rite after Konopka dropped the gloves and sparked the team?)

And Jack says he likes the way they are playing while Weight says we are undersized. (AKA out toughed)

They cant even agree or see that our lineup lacks the talent, size and toughness to compete in the NHL night after night. That is a problem to.

And one more thing. Ricky "D" should never be allowed to start another game in the NHL
