Yep, and even being asked to do what he does, he is certainly still productive. But not exactly the protection tavaresn needs.
- Isles316

I wouldnt be shocked if they asked him to do that also haha.

We need you to quarterback the PP, run the first PK line, play a lot of minutes on the second line and put up tons of goals, win key faceoffs...do all of this while playing great defensive hockey. BTW JT just got hit, go fight colton orr.

once again a great chance by grabner isnt converted and then play goes other way and other team scores. that was difference in game.

also seemed to me that only tavares, moulson and grabner were trying to win this game.

After it was 3-1 rangers just played shut down game.

and finally WHY DOES THIS BOZO Capuano insist on pulling goalie with over 2 mins left. At least wait for isles to gain the zone too. isles werent even past center ice. you basically end the game early.

Best of all is this tool bag going to put in DP on saturday and make it a 4 skid. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH

I can see JT getting married, moving to slovakia and having a kid, then saying the kid has to have surgery so he won't be back for a little while....feel for this guy, wonder how fast he will run when contract expires.

The problem with this coach is that they do not have any defensive discipline. When he pulls the goalie is the least of our worries....

Correct but u do it at 1:00 to 1:30 once u have gain control of offensive zone. We must have lead league in empty net goals last year. We are 2 for 2 this year.

I hate rags but I like torts. He benches Boyle to make a statement. Puts in this kid miller who scores twice on us. Is it me our does our team have way too many complacent players.

We could use some benchings. Cizikis should not be one of them. The team that wanted it more won last night. Plain and simple.

I like amac but he isn't a top mins dman in NHL. It's asking a lot of him. Also Finley is slow and terrible. Hickey deserves more ice time and a look on pp.

The Rags actually looked pretty bad. We are just terrible. The good teams this year are the Pens Bruins and devils
- mighty13duck

I'll give you NJ, because they are always good, regardless of talent, because of the way they play. The problem with Pittsburgh is that one day MAF looks like Ken Dryden, and the next he looks like Dave Dryden. That will be their downfall. The Rag$ have been slow in getting their act together, but they have a MUCH better goaltender.

I agree with you but you know what? Ullstrom and Cizikas are definite keepers. Nielsen, I know some of you aren't too big on him but I like him. I strongly feel that next year, defense will be tottally different when we have pedan and reinhart. I just hope they will be on the team next year and strome as well. I feel that it is pointless to get old fart players who did well then fall apart to pieces slowly such as aucoin and mcdonald.

Piss poor effort last night. Embarrassing. No fight in this team whatsoever. Same broken record plays every season: start off respectably, melt down and crash after seven games. Same s**t, different season.

Three straight losses, all in regulation, all to divisional opponents. That's how you get on the fast track to the division basement. One of these seasons, this team has to start beating teams in the Atlantic division if they ever want to make the playoffs.

And when can we have an honest discussion about "the rebuild"? This rebuild sucks. It's dogs**t. This will be the sixth straight bottom five finish for this team. This year will be the fifth year in the last six they finish in the Atlantic basement if it happens. Where is the progress?

I'm tired of reading BS by bloggers and posters about this rebuild being on course or on pace. Who's pace? Who's course? LA, Chicago and Pittsburgh all rebuilt their teams and won championships in the amount of time the isles have undertaken this "rebuild". Yet, the isles are nowhere close to a championship or even to being a contender six seasons after starting the rebuild.

We hear about all these prospects. Lee, Nelson, strome, reinharts, mayfield, etc. do any of them have high ceilings? After all these bottom five finishes, where are all of our high end players. Hamonic and JT are all we have to show for five years of bottom five finishes?

I'm completely disenchanted with this team. They provide the same miserable product year on and year out. They repeat the same process every summer and unbelievably expect a different result. The problem with this rebuild are the fools running it. It will never get on course with the same people who have been running it the past six years.

The difference in the game is that the Rangers out-skated, outworked, and outplayed the Islanders. It wasn't any one play. That was the poorest team effort so far this season.

Bravo Jethro Anyone who watched last night should be pissed. The coach basically called this team cowards let's see what changes are made before the next game. I'm tired of the building excuses or Snow's hands are tied. If Snow is not allowed to run the team his way he should man up and tell Wang to shove it and hook up on another team as assitant GM and work his way back up.

It is inexcusable that the Isles can be out-worked. They have no talent. They only way they can compete is to work as hard or harder than their opponent. Effort is not like talent. One is born with talent, but anyone can work hard and put an honest effort forth. The fact that this team laid as big of an egg as they did and came out with as putrid a battle level as they did last night, in MSG against the Rangers, after losing two straight game to divisional opponents is infuriating.

Bringing in Thomas shows how cheap Wang is.

I understand this move from Snow's position. He has to prevent the team from going under the cap and getting fined.

The next month or so will be a very telling time around this Islanders team.

Snow will have to make moves.

I hope Wang sells the team next year when they move to Brooklyn.

I'm glad he found them a new home... but he needs to move on!!!

I like Ullstrom and Cizikas but if I got something good back in a trade I would include them. I would think this so called trade for Thomas is going to start Snow making some moves with some of the veterans like Streit, Visnozki, Nabokov, etc...

Agree 100%...if I did my job like Snow does his, I would be fired...he isn't a GM, he knows nothing about talent and I question some of the picks he made. I still don't know why Nino isn't up with the big club as well as Donovan...doesn't make sense. I hope Bailey and Visnovski give them a boost but a good GM would start making room for Nino, Nelson and Donovan.

I agree Wang is the biggest problem. He cannot sell fast enough. Snow is the one who will have to take the fall though. Wang will be fine. I know Snow is getting paid but I'm not sure how he works for Wang.

There are so many reasons for this putrid "rebuild". The Owner is a fool and put a novice in the GM chair to head up a total organizational rebuild, while giving him no budget to work with. The GM has absolutely no creativity. Can't convince a single veteran player to sign on with the team. Can't make one creative trade to address a need. All this rebuild consists of is Snow making his draft choices, rushing his top prospects and filling the rest of the roster with trash from the waiver wire.

The real concern is the "prospects". Look back to 2008. Besides Hamonic, who else has a high ceiling? Maybe Poulin? Everyone else taken in that draft is either a bust or a depth player. 09? JT and what else? de Haan is a bust. Can't stay healthy. I mean, after all these picks over the past five summers, if you look at the system, the only high ceiling guys we have are Strome, Nino and maybe Reinhart and Poulin. And the only high ceiling guys on the roster are JT and Hamonic. That's six guys. Disgraceful.

I'll be honest...yes, I know, thank you Captain Obvious....the Rag$ are just simply better than we are. Period. I said it before the season, and I'll say it now- if they don't win the Cup this year, they never will.

That said, the Isles are the only team I've ever seen play the trap and still manage to end up on the short end of a 2 on 1. They simply do not know how to play defense, and until they learn, they will not beat a team that is significantly more talented than they are (like Boston and the Rag$, just for two examples). End of story. Is what it is...

- dcb1

Here comes all the Ranger Love fest from Islander fans.

Let me clue you in on something... The Rangers are not going to win the cup. They are not that good. They are not that deep. They have a mediocre defense at best. Their PP is still terrible b/c they have no point man. They win when Lundquist stands on his head... period. Last years run in the playoffs they were arguably outplayed in every single playoff series and Henrik got them to the next round. Until they ran into another really good goalie.. and then got bounced.

The best teams in the NHL are.... in order... In my opinion .. you will notice the Rags are not in the top 10. Isles still stink... I get it... stop with the Ranger love fest.

1. Boston
2. Kings
3. Blackhawks
4. Pens
5. Ducks
6. Devils
7. Blues
8. Wild
9. Sens

Yep time to move Streit and bring in Donovan and maybe it's time to see Nino and Nelson. Snow needs a bold move after the team did not show up against the Rangers. Wang will sell this team sometime soon most likely and Snow is the one who will be looking for a job. Snow needs to find a way to show something soon for his own career.

But thats the problem. Every Godd*mn seasons this team is looking to dump at the deadline instead of add. At year six, we should be adding at the deadline, not looking to dump. Its ridiculous that we even have to entertain trading Streit, Visnovsky or Nabby in year six of a rebuild. We should be thinking of adding players to the roster for a playoff run, not moving vets for more f**king draft picks/prospects. This contemplation is proof positive that this "rebuild" is in shambles and not being handled well.
