I'm not saying PA is a great two way fwd, far from it in fact but he is a much better player than Boyes or at least what we've seen thus far from Boyes. If Boyes continues to get time on the first unit he may put up points but will drag that line down. PA is no speed demon by any means but Boyes ain't too much faster then hunter. Boyes avoids contact like the plague, he's out of position, his passing is sometimes ok and other times horrid to the point it makes you cringe. The little things that people who know hockey are aware of is what Boyes doesn't do. His positional play, passing coming out or into the zone, etc. You're entitled to your opinion and for all I know Boyes can turn out great but from what I've seen so far I'd take PA without flinching. I honestly think Boyes sucks

for all intents and purposes, brad boyes replaced PAP. we all agree with that; however, brad boyes is playing on the second line while PAP is playing on the top line...

use your common sense on this one:

Games Goals Assists Points +/- PIM SOG
Pa parenteau 10 7 2 9 5 8 20
Brad boyes 9 3 4 7 -4 2 19

now imagine if boyes were playing with the top line; its possible hed be doing even better than he is now.

Boyes reminds me of Satan (Miro, not lucifer) later in his career. No speed, just crafty and a nose for the net. We really haven't had a chance to see him put his best skills on display yet.
PA is not fast at all but he's a very smooth twister and turner. That's what makes him a good playmaker. When I see PA skate I think Scott Gomez. They have very similar skillsets but Gomez played with more edge. That said, if this team wants to take the next step, they have to have better players step into PA and Boyes role. I think PA knew that very well and went somewhere that he could ride shotgun with another star player. I also believe that he was NOT going to stay her for less or even similar money.

Cally is back alot sooner than expected. You guys are going to be in tough to pull this out tonight without PAP. He has 7 goals and 2 assists.

But do you throw Bailey on the 1st line and drop Okposo to the 3rd? Id actual wouldnt mind rewarding Ullstrom and give him a game or 2 on JT's wing.

boyes is a year older than pap (pretty much a wash) Totally a wash
boyes makes 3MM less than pap. I don't care, I don't pay him
pap career high in goals has been 20...boyes as 3 years of 25+ goals. PAP's NHL spans way fewer seasons...Boyes has been around since 05.
before this year, since 2009 boyes is +16, pap is -18 This stat means nothing unless you play for the same team under the same circumstances.

I can see us winning the cup and some will be like..there wasn't enough confetti at the parade. we are in every game people...they aren't perfect but they are fighting. just think back to where we were in 09 and 2010 when we had 2 or 3 nhl quality players and we were getting bombed every game. Now its one save here or a bad line change there or one player here...they are close..you guys just need some perspective

If we weren't gonna sign him, than they should have gotten something for him. Just bad decisions by Isles brass....I know, it's seems unfathomable that Islanders management would make bad decisions.

Ok back to real hockey talk. This team is better. They don't suck anymore. It's been a very small sample in a whacked out season. The opponents the isles have played are a combined 51-22-10. Isles weathered a very tough part of the schedule very nicely.

Thought they were good enough vs jersey and Pitt to win or at least get points.

Let's see these next three games, all winnable realistically
