Fittingly, Jamal Mayers was awarded #Blackhawks' heavyweight belt as player of game.

- philco28

So...they found the missing belt after the Cup win, or is there a replacement?

Get on it, Al!

It will more current story than the one I just saw put up, how Kane no longer wears a mouthguard...come, on are these writers even paying attention to the games or making the whole thing up? Kane mouthguard is old news.

BTW the Phoenix duo was close to the worse...they didn't know who passed the puck to whom on Hawk goals, spent so much talk on Torres, then
They say, "glad we put that past us..." but CONTINUED to spout off about it instead of play by play.
Geesh, even the post game Phoenix was more fight than loss.
...and would it kill them to flash other scores?

This season, I don't we EVER saw this Patrick Kane- this is the London Knights Pat Kane that we would see in spurts and than would disappear.

I am not saying he is perfect defensively, but he is a clear dominant threat with all the players he is suurounded by when he moves like he is...

Why would you want to mess around with lines now?

At this point you do not F with that 3rd line!

Coyotes averaging about 72% attendence after 8 games.I hope that Doan enjoys Quebec.

The fans--you know all the fans that don't go to the games--aren't hanging out on Adam French's Yotes blog either. It'd be a miracle if that team stays in Phoenix much longer.

He is having a dominating season. I think he is actively trying to dictate play as opposed to riding shotgun. Not perfect defensively yet but he has made some massive strides in that regard.

Has a US born player ever led the league in scoring? Kane could very well do it this year...

Their Hockey Buzz site is also a ghost town. I think the long trek toward them leaving town has probably hurt the attendance and overall interest in the team. Kind of a vicious circle.

I so agree the third line is crazy fast and very effective
At this point leave all the lines the same

When Car bomb comes back we can slot him in on line 1

The other option is Sharp on 1 and Saad on 2

Don't shoot me just a thought

RE: Saad... His main benefit on the first line is that it allows Stalberg to play on the 3rd... Toews and Hoss can carry the rookie, and it makes us stronger all around having that 3rd line playing the way they are.

I think Carcillo replaces Bollig/Mayers on the 4th unless Saad completely falls off the face of the earth.

As for the third line, THIS is the line we have been lacking for two years. They are physical and play hard on the forecheck. Their willingness to play the dump and chase game is contagious. Last year I remember yelling at the tv for them to get pucks deep. Ditto the fourth line this year.

As far as the belt....I will have to check with my source for such matters:
The brother of the cousin whose girl friend's uncle knows the sister of the man who delivers Gatorade to the locker room.

Until then, here is today's column.....

I bet Car Bomb gets REALLY healthy before hitting the lineup, since Q does not like to mess with success. As JJ has said, one possibility is to let Saad further develop in the AHL; but Q seems to go out of his way to praise Saad, so maybe Car Bomb will enter on the fourth line (rotating with Jamal and Bollig). This is going to be a really good problem to have. Trying to find time for good players > patching holes with crap!

Al, I also thought Razor's lateral movement looked much better. Dunno why, but it was visible in the shootout as well. Good for him, many of us (me included) had about written him off.

Sharp can't carry Hoss's jock. He shouldn't even be wearing his jacket.

I'm starting to sour on #10, not because he seems to only hit the post but because he can't pass and he seems allergic to the ice inside his teams' blue line.

3 assists last night...for a total of 9 on the season...1 behind Kane for the team lead. WAKE UP

Watch his defence...or lack thereof.

EDIT: Secondary assist on 2 goals and the primary assist is on that ill-fated goal-mouth cross ice pass (on a 5-on-3 none the less) that won't work for $hit come playoff time. ..and smell the coffee.

I think Nick Leddy has really helped this team this year. Last couple of years, when forechecked, he would fall apart. Seems like he has matured and will hold on to the puck and make better decisions. He's veen solid Nd I'm glad the team stuck with him when I wanted to strangle him..,
- Iknockuout

Leddy's THRIVING on the 3rd pairing. He's gaining confidence that will serve him very well when he either earns or inherits a promotion to the top 4, where he was MISCAST last year.

He's obviously off to a SH IT start in the eyes of most, including me. But he'll come up huge too. I'm confident of that given his outstanding track record.

He's had more assists than goals in all 3 of the last 3 years and he's +66 as a Blackhawk, hardly a defensive liability.

His contract makes him an easy target, but some of his biggest detractors can't deny...he's been a TOTAL ASSET to the Chicago Blackhawks...on/off the ice. And as i've said many, many times...he's A GLUE GUY. Lose him at him your own risk.

I agree, Leddy's been great on the third D unit this year. While he'd played mostly with Brookbank he hasn't had a steady partner all year like the other 2 units. I'd leave Leddy on the 3rd pairing for the rest of the year and the playoffs. Maybe next year Q can swap Oduya and Leddy if a change needs to be made. Right now everything is working so I don't see the need to make a change.

Yep wrote about moving smoothly form post to post and that maybe the extra time off helped his hip.

Yep...and i understand the frustration. You can bet a zillion bucks that Sharpie is frustrated too.

I've got my whipping boys too. When somebody phucks up, especially with a mental brainfart, i'll rip 'em. For example, early in the game last night, Kaner served up a party pizza turnover RIGHT INTO OUR OWN SLOT. WTF ?

He goes on to make up for it nicely, but i want us to play smart, off the boards and out defense...MINIMIZE TO ZERO...neutral zone turnovers or turnovers on the rush at the enemy blueline because they're KILLERS.

I wouldn't write them off yet. Also, we shouldn't judge Smith only by what he's done against the Hawks this year.

Against Chicago 2 games 12 goals allowed
Against everyone else 5 games 8 goals allowed

They could still be a tough first round matchup in a few months.

- NewToHockey

you are right...i though his record was worse vs the rest of the league
