Was the game less boring on TV than it was in person? (frank) ass poop was it ever slow as balls in person. When I saw the shots were like 26 each I was all "No way!" but it was yeah way.

There's two problems I can see with the Oilers acquiring O'Reilly. First is, the price. The Avs will want a 1st+ and that's lots for a player who's holding out after having only one really good season and wanting $5mil per over a long-term deal.

2nd problem is, what happens when Nuge is back? O'Reilly is a Top 6 center. Nuge is a Top 6 center, and Gagner is the best player on the whole team this season so far. So who plays on the 3rd line? O'Reilly likely doesn't want to be a 3rd line center, and he'd be an awfully expensive guy to have there.

Plus adding another 5 million plus player won't be good if he's going to be playing third line minutes. With the way the draft is set up now any first rounder could really bite u in the ass if u miss the playoffs even at ninth, not going to for sure but could. You also probably send a top six back for him.

It seems in the world that happens I would have been better at my job if my boss didn't hate me or giving me stupid jobs to do.

Can we sign Rieder? He looked good in the Juniors. Currently 39 points in 39 games. Leading the Kitchner Rangers of the OHL (if my google search is correct). 20 goals, +9. He has to be the next option. He is 20 already, it is not like waiting is going to make him any better. He had 84 points in 60 games last year. 42 g and 42 a. Currently with 5 game winners and 2 short handed. He is said to have top end talent but with RNH size. He does however play a big defensive role with speed.

He plays Center and Left wing and I can't find any where that shows his F% but it wouldn't matter because NHL would be entirely different. IMO he is a wild card but has the potential to be a top 6 player. He might also be a complete bust but the kid has talent, it is just whether it translates to the NHL is the question.

Still has to be a better choice than Arnott. I am not against Connolly. However I think Colorado thinks O'Reilly is better than he is and I think he is good because of Gabriel. He is good but and worth a first round and Paajarvi but they won't think so. I would think we were over paying for a player that has had one good year. Especially when adding a center still leaves us with other holes. Such as the other 2 missing centers, a back up goalie and a real shut down dman. Or our dmen to rise to the occasion. Still a back up needs to be addressed. No use trying for a playoff run with one untested goalie. Better to be on the outside and draft a good center.

I would start with new medical staff, the whole works of them. You see players all the time that have injuries and then when they move teams they suddenly vanish.

Do not panic!

Everyone understood that all teams would have a lot of injuries because of the short season and accelerated schedule. Don't do anything. Give the kids more ice time, it won't hurt them. Call up a fourth line center from the minors and let him play a minute or two in the third period if the outcome of the game is settled.

Working through adversity builds character. Players come back from injury, the core unit remains clear for everyone to see. The goal this year is to sneak into the playoffs or at least put up a good fight down the stretch.

I believe the Oilers will make the playoffs and they will make some very loud noise once they get there. But, they should not become whiners and snivelers and start feeling sorry for themselves crying about injury. It takes away from the character building opportunity this season offers. Fans and bloggers need to suck it up as well.

Ya, if you take away his current streak, he would have 0 points.

Sorry Oiler fans, you still think your defense is pretty solid but really it isn't.

So what if you have Schultz, i've seen countless turnovers in his own end as well so it's one thing to me offensive-minded but right now, that's all i see in his game, one-dimensional.

Gagner will falter & it's only a matter of time before Hemsky is hurt.

Oh and your goalie, he's not a true #1.

Shut your mouth! The "Oil" are the most exciting young team since Gretz and Mess lit ut up in good old 80s. 5 Cups Baby!

Boring, you know what's boring? Waiting for you left coasters to picks a goalie.

If we keep our underwhelming captain in the pressbox, replace Whitney, and Dubnyk keeps playing decent...the Oilers are still good. I fully agree with Clouts that Schultz is more of a positive catalyst than many realize. Outside of our 6th Dman, the top 4/5 are pretty good. I like them. If one were to add an allstar DMan to this team and push the 6th man out, I would really like the look of our back end.

Krueger seems to be making a positive difference too.

Greg Campbell
Abdeklader
Nokelainen

Are current NHLers getting less ice-time than they'd probably prefer. Helm and Boyle would be the best, but we'd have to give up an afwul lot.

The jealousy of the other fans is great! I love it. It reminds me of all of the digs and criticisms of the 80s. Your little b1tchy anonymous message is proof that this team is starting to make some noise. I don't care who your team is, and it seems neither do you.

Who did we miss more? Nuge or Horcoff and Belanger?

NUGE
our PP, with the exception of the nifty play that led to the goal, looked brutal. Ebs didn't actually have a great game, and through Taylor Hall did play hard, it looked like he was trying to compensate by trying daring play after daring play. Really, sometimes it seems like he could drive wide, beat a guy with speed and then chuck it accross the crease to a crashing forward every time he enters the zone. Might go to show you that Hall would be happy enough on a non-Nuge and Ebs line, but those two are getting to be inseparable.

HORCOFF AND BELANGER
Faceoffs were brutal. Pretty tall order for Sam Gagner, but when you're getting outdrawn by Hall and Smyth, it demonstrates the need for improvement. I don't know if Hall to centre is the answer, being that Gagner is playing hard as a centre in other areas. He just needs to learn a couple of greasy little tricks in the dot. Oddly enough, I didn't the defensive game from our forwards was that bad. Haritkainen was battling in the corners and the front of the net at both ends and even Hemmer was backchecking. The transition game was what was really missing yesterday. There were only a couple forwards (yaks, Hemmer, Hall) who could skate the puck up the ice and only one dman (J.Schultz) - and most of the time he was getting a bouncing puck to corral first, courtesy of his teammates panicking. There is a need for a two-way guy on this team like you wouldn't believe.

I don't care if we keep getting loser points. Wins are psychologically a world away from losses and wins prove tenfold more than "battling hard", even if we only get one extra point. Saturday in Detroit is a must-win for me.

is he banned?

i understand the ref hate, it was BS, but that aint the reason we lost. we were brutal out there for most of that game. bad decisions, way too many odd rushes, horrible on the dot, pushed around, cant break out for sh1t when a team forechecks hard. etc etc

dallas looked like a really bad hockey team too (benn and eriksson rule though) as a good team woulda walked all over us tonight.

a couple bright spots in hemmer and schultz though.

Really???? a missed offside that led to a goal against didn't affect the outcome of the game? a missed too many men on the ice, in overtime didn't affect the outcome of the game??? Alrighty then......

Ref was on other side rink with bad sight line and the puck was a fraction of a cm over I don't think that is clearly slanted against the oilers.

the puck was easily 2 inches over

Ryan Whitney's fault on the Jagr goal. Big surprise.

What's worse Whitney being beat or Dubnyk letting that goal in?

The fact that in his post-game interview Jagr essentially flat out said that all teams plan to play, (and succeed at playing) the oilers on the boards. It's a well-known fact that we can be neutralized by physical play.
