ok kessel.... let me summarize what would turn into 10 pages

option 1: he isnt going to be the guy we want to build around trade him now for young assets

option 2: he is going to be exactly the guy the leafs end up looking for in a couple years if the leafs move him

option 3: moving him makes no sense right now, wait til he says he wont resign

option 4: they will never recoup what they paid for him so might as well keep a young 30 goal scorer.

- Dozzer

Option 1: We put the Cheese on top of the beef patty, and the bacon underneath. Onions and Peppers sit on the condiments at the bottom of the pile. We toast said bun before putting this concotion together and whence all this is together, we throw lettuce on top, and close bun.

option 2: I don't have an option 2. Option one sounds good enough. mmmmm

Source tells me today #Leafs and #Senators have approached Florida about centre Stephen Weiss. Would look superb on either team.

option 4B: he signs a 5 year deal with Florida, and the Leafs are left with nothing let alone recouping what they paid for him.

Kinda cool to post your opinions and not have them torn apart by an armchair GM with a crystal ball and unlimited hindsight at their disposal , isn't it ?

Amen. Weiss is not a number #1 C. Not if you planning on being good.

We'd just be stuck with two Grabo's. And he's small.

Meh, he's cheap and his deal is up at the end of the year. He's also better than Bozak.

It's a really hard call with Kessel. I do really like the guy, and think he's more or less carried himself well in TOR. the problem is cap manageability.

Lupul got a deal that, if healthy, is pretty much his max value. But it leaves us in a tight spot because Phil will be in a position to demand in the 6.5 range, and I'm just not convinced he's worth it(this despite the fact that his drought hasn't really effected his trade value.)

My hope is that we don't dig ourselves into cap trouble with guys that can't even make the playoffs for us.

I would like to see a serious attempt to lock down Kadri, Gardiner and Frattin for long term deals that carry through most of their 20's. If this is done, we'll get them at a significant discount.

What needs to be done with our cap situation in order for us to be good going forward is:

Mac, Bozak and perhaps Steckel don't fit on this roster medium-long term. Mac costs too much, Bozak doesn't have all the tools despite his faceoff prowess to stay on the roster in any meaningful capacity.

Kadri, Gardiner and Frattin should be getting modest long term deals that lock them down for cheap, I think Nazem would be good with a 6 yr, 20m or something similar. The same can be said for Frattin and Jake next summer.

Not thrilled with Liles and Komi considering their cap hits, but until we gets better plugs we can't consider the buyout option just yet. Either way Liles makes way too much money for his performance

Weiss turns 30 this year, and is a pending UFA.

This will be a good opportunity for him to land a big payday, and I just don`t think he`s worth it.

He makes 3m per now, and will want 4-4.5 methinks

Jerry Colangelo.

The NHL Owners.

And I know that you are such a brilliant businessman that you would have done 100 things different, but for the record, the only other alternative was to fold the franchise.

- Atomic Wedgie

So Jerry Colangelo is the reason why the Coyotes play 45 minutes away from Phoenix?

Guess who represents the NHL owners? Guess who has the responsibility of telling the NHL owners that a stupid idea is in fact a stupid idea rather than putting sprinkles on a turd and calling it a franchise.

It was and still is Bettman's job to ensure franchises are located in markets where they can actually succeed and he failed miserably at doing that with Phoenix.
