If you're not going to give the position to a young checker in the organization, then you may as well give it to Connolly, I would like to see them give Devane some time this year at that position to get him some (few) games in. Won't hurt to try.

option 1: he isnt going to be the guy we want to build around trade him now for young assets

option 2: he is going to be exactly the guy the leafs end up looking for in a couple years if the leafs move him

option 3: moving him makes no sense right now, wait til he says he wont resign

option 4: they will never recoup what they paid for him so might as well keep a young 30 goal scorer.
