Yeah I think there's a fit in the Pit for Iggy.

Kipper to CHI would be an option if Crawford slips up by the deadline.

- AngryWhiteMale

Kiprusoff to Chicago would be deadly. The Blackhawks would be next to impossible to beat. But they'd probably have to give up Crawford in that deal and that leaves their future in net up in the air.

Although I agree in theory with the point you are making here. Can you see someone giving a high upside prospect and a potential lottery pick in a strong draft and maybe even adding another pick or top prospect for Kessel? Not to say Kessel is not worth that but the Islanders are not a player away from a cup run. Snow would be crucified for that trade, although I believe he would win it by getting the best player in the deal, and another superstar for Tavares to play with.
- stevecarpetman

The Islanders, at some point, are going to need results to get some people in the building. They're just one of several potential teams that could afford to give up what the Leafs would need in return for Kessel.

Honestly.

Can it.

Your hatred of the Leafs and anything even tangentially related to them does not have to inform every opinion of yours.

- Leeman4Gilmour

It's actually the opposite. Getzlaf on Team Canada has nothing to do with the Leafs. Getzlaf is too slow for the big ice and Canada easily has at least four centers who are ahead of him on the depth chart. Crosby, Giroux, Toews and one of Bergeron or J. Staal. It's so obvious.

As per @DarrenDreger ,clubs are interested in Phil Kessel. Leafs GM Nonis listening but no trade in the works.- SpectorsHockey

Brutal..

Why would Nonis extend Lupul and then trade Kessel? So stupid

- jbold

Why do people connect these guys at the hip. Lupul is a very good player, former first round draft pick who had tremendous upside and bad luck. He is not married to Kessel because they gelled for one season. Lupul has made lots of good players great when he played with them.

Oh, it's actually the opposite is it?

And is that why you have to begin your opinion with a gratuitous and irrelevant shot at the Leafs?

The last positive thing you ever said about a Leaf was when you compared Tlusty to Jagr.

Shot at the Leafs? Guess you missed the joke...

But back to the five centers who are all better suited to play for Canada.

Crosby. Giroux. Toews. J. Staal. Bergeron.

The last positive thing you ever said about a Leaf was when you compared Tlusty to Jagr.

Agreed but Snow will get crucified for it even tho he would most likely win the trade. He has built his career on the draft and aquiring picks and prospects.

See, that's the beauty of Garth Snow's job right now; there isn't anybody to crucify him.

That's actually part of the problem the Islanders have right now that he's going to have to try and fix eventually.

That year Edmonton fell apart. Team was sold. Lost Pronger and Peca and traded Smyth. They did play well at the first part of the season, but multple line changes were done and the team battled with internal crap.

Oh, so I must have been dreaming the day I read your post saying that Tlusty would be a great complementary European player to a Canadian captain.

The examples you have were, specifically, Jagr to Lemieux, Kurri to Gretzky, and Malkin to Crosby.

So, you're right; you didn't compare Tlusty to Jagr. You compared Tlusty to Jagr, Kurri, AND Malkin. Nicely done.

You can't make this poop up.

Why are soo many Leaf fans drooling over Getzlaf and Perry? They are not coming here. Sports writers need to keep their jobs and keep you reading papers and blogs. It's not happening. Why would they and if they could singlehandly bring us a cup why did it not happen in Anaheim under our current coach last year?

Look for young talent how have their future ahead of them, not at the top looking down. Getzlaf has a family now and a cup under his belt. Perception changes, and so do priorities.

Because Leafs fans have been conditioned to drool on July 1st instead of Draft Day.

This is exactly right. The teams that get ahead of the curve are the teams that are focused on building a team with the future in mind.

I could see Kipper to Ana as a possibility. They could make a serious run this year with better goaltending, his cash outlay is very low, and it may help to re-sign Perry and Getzlaf. How much longer can Selanne really play?

And what does Anaheim do with Hiller?

Problems in Anaheim aren't typically due to goaltending.

Maybe Kessel going to the Pens. Not Kulemin.

Maybe the Leafs make a play for Malkin
