Yeah I've never understood why the Flames struggle so much with this team.

What's Irving's career SO record? Can't be worse than Kipper's can it?

I think Taylor should have been the back up from the start. Feaster went on and on about the Meritocricy where the best players would play in the NHL based on their performance and not how much they made or where they were drafted.

This was obviously not the case because both Taylor and Brust were better in the "A" than Irving and should have been given a chance to compete for the back up role.

Now Irving needs to perform because when Kipper is back, he could go down and Taylor could stay now that he has an NHL contract

I heard the TV guys saying that the Flames have the second most shots on goal per games and allow the second least. I'm sorry but if we keep those numbers up the Flames will be in the playoffs. It's like last season with Minnesota when they were the best team some analysts pointed to their poor shots on goal to shots allowed ratio as a reason as to why the Wild will have to fall. Look what happened to the Wild last season. The Flames are basically in the exact opposite position as the Wild were last season.

Yeah this is what I was talking about in the blog...they have found a way to not "exactly" play solid defense...but play a solid defensive system. I feel like Hartley is playing a large role in the ability to have his players buy into a system where they shutdown the opposition at their own blueline and keep shots and pucks to the corners.

They have been keeping their opposition shots down, something that will be a key to any success this year.
