It's fitting that the Lovejoy trade went down while I was asleep. Good luck t the guy. He's a good person but he just hasn't proven much in the NHL yet. I hope he figures it out in the West. Glad to get a 5th because him not playing and his play when he was doesn't add up to that.

He's a good player. He really just needs to find his role. He came over with expectations put on him by the team, fans and himself to be an offensive threat, but has had problems adjusting to the NHL.

The timing and the cap hit are both bad. I don't think Holmgren is all that good at math.

Lovejoy is not small at all. He's got the same height and weight as Orpik I think but to call him physical (only sometimes) and tough (hardly) is a stretch. He does play fairly well on the defensive side of the puck.

I guess Shero didn't want to repeat the Strait history all over again and loose a serviceable guy for nothing.
