Under the rules in place, Conacher should have gotten a 2 minute minor. He made no effort to avoid Bryzgalov, who was not only in the act of making a save, but was deep in his crease and defenseless.
- Jsaquella

Let's put it this way: As Flyers fans, we have seen that very thing that Conacher did called against the Flyers.

I'm not calling conspiracy. I'm just saying that Conacher play has been called a penalty before.

Most of the comments are just trolls bashing the usual scapegoats. Every goal is Bryzgalov's fault. Coburn sucks because he's big and doesn't always hit. Giroux's struggles are solely because he's the captain.
- Jsaquella

I glance through them occasionally but just like on here it's the same community of people saying the same things day after day while taking shots at each other and their favourite Flyers targets. Unlike on here it's barely policed and the level of intelligence is at least two levels down.

Yeah, I think the trade is working out well for both teams.

The leafs needed a guy who wasn't afraid to get in front of the net, the Flyers needed a top 4 defencemen.

So far JVR has been benefiting the most from Kessel not scoring. A handful of his goals have been off Kessel rebounds.

For the leafs with Gardiner emerging, Rielly coming up through the ranks, and a number of other defensive prospects they could afford to move Schenn and I'm glad it was a good old hockey trade that for the time being seems to be beneficial to both teams involved.

- Scruffton

Both guys just need consistency. JvR would have games where he'd dominate, and then have stretches where he'd be be content to be a perimeter player and not drive to the net.

From what I read of Leafs fans and Schenn, it seemed that he'd have periods where he'd be trying to do too much and get himself out of position and lack the ability to recover.

I'd love to see it work out as a good deal for both teams.

I feel like people are at least kept honest on here (via mods and other users). For the most part, everyone knows what they are talking about and those who don't are quickly chased off.

Very true. Consistency, to me, is the most important thing a ref can have.

Luke Schenn has played very well in 8 of the 10 games so far for the Flyers. If the Flyers had a healthy Simmonds, and Hartnell right now it wouldn't be an issue. They are lacking a power forward that can finish around the net at the moment.
- PLindbergh31

It would be nice if JVR was a around the net kind of guy....I mostly remember him as being a perimeter player that would occasionally skate down the side and take it to the net..

I didn't see it that way and the way that fight was going, I think it's unfair to ask Rinaldo to stop throwing to ask the guy if he was OK. Rinaldo probably knew he connected good but probably had no idea to the extent of the damage at the time.

I think however you view what Rinaldo did (I think it was borderline, at worst), Crombeen had it coming.

- johndewar

Obviously, Crombeen is on the way down when Rinaldo throws the last punch. I don't think it was egregious or something so awful that people need to be outraged.

I don't think Rinaldo even registered that Crombeen was falling. I think he was lost in the fight and, everything was moving so quickly, he didn't have time to realize that he shouldn't punch him.

i am glad that JvR is going to the front of the net finally...something he didn't do too often here in Philadelpiha. i think everyone's gripe on him was his inability to really use his size to his advantage in front. the guy has all the tools, and he looked real aggressive on those goals last night.

that being said, i'm still happy with having Luke Schenn play with Timmonen and Simmonds (when healthy) playing JvR's role. both JvR and Night Train are a bit inconsistent on the score sheet, but at least Simmonds brings a constant physical element to his game.

when JvR is off his...there's not much he brings to the table when he's in a scoring drought

Bryz's play alone has me excited for the home-stretch this season.

I am still convinced we will start to score goals, and our D can ONLY get better, whether it be through trade or synergy from the current starters.

I think it was Bill that mentioned the Jets might not be able to keep Byufglien?

Back to Bryz; he is almost the polar opposite of the guy he was last year.

I heard it here before, 24/7 was the worst thing that happened to him in this city so far.

that's the second straight fight that Rinaldo has thrown some questionable shots on the way down. i'm all for him beating down other players, but as we've seen already last night, there could be retaliation on our other top players for it.

was still great to see last night either way. love me a good orange flavored hammer down

Agreed that Crombeen had it coming. Also, I think the code stuff is a bit overblown. There are tons of examples of one fighter hitting the other as he is on his knee, or knees, or even while sitting on the ice. It doesn't seem to me that anyone really follow "the code" to the point of letting up on an opponent who is not clearly injured or clearly out of the fight (aka laying on the ice defenseless). The other circumstance "the code" comes into play is when one combatant tells the other he's hurt, like Callahan did with Talbot.

But you can look at fight videos from around the league and see tons of examples of guys still throwing punches when the other player is on his knees or falling down but not yet on the ice. The Avery vs. Carle fight that everyone loves to rip Carle for was a perfect example. Once the fight starts in earnest, almost the entire thing takes place with Carle on his knees, or down on all fours covering up, and Avery certainly showed no signs of letting up because Carle was "down". I know Avery is hardly anyone that should be emulated, but I think the point is still valid. Unless they get asked to stop due to an injury, everyone keeps throwing until they are certain the other guy isn't going to punch them back anymore. I get why Tampa is upset, but I think it's hard to fault Rinaldo in that situation. No way Crombeen (or anyone else) would have stopped if the situation was reversed.

Rinaldo loses himself which can be good or bad, depending on the circumstances. As he gets older and matures, I'm sure he'll get a better handle on his emotions.

Trevor Daley would be a good fit for the Flyers.

He would replace Carle at half the price.

Try and get Jagr or Morrow in that deal at the deadline sending Gus back with Read

I'll assume those things (I have no idea what they're supposed to be) are filled with beer. This is what the girls are doing at the sports bar in South Philly? I can only imagine that leads to a hot mess.

I'm starting to feel better about being an aging, married guy. Dealing with sloppy drunk chicks (not to mention the angry drunk guys who think they own them) is not something I'm up to any more.

I like that he doesn't lose himself in a Dan Carcillo sort of way. I think (or like to think) we've seen some good thing from Rinaldo, with respect to controlling himself.

He still gets some reputation calls, which bugs me, but I guess the only way to stop having them called is to have more of a history of self-control.
