Then why would you bring it up and call us whiner about the hit. If you also said you could see our point about being upset about it, I missed it, and that would change the dynamic entirely, but you went straight to calling us whiners of a call that was deemed a bad call by more than just Sharks fans
- corvusmd

The whining was about how the outcome of game would have been different if the call was different. I can say, as I did, that the Hawks have the best PK in the league (fact) and therefore even a SJ power play might not have made any difference. And, like I say, it's ALL speculation.

The play seemed to show—speculation aside—that the Hawks were a step too fast for the Sharks—who I basically gave a pass because they played the night before. And it's why no hawk fan should get all cocky or dismiss the Sharks. And, it's fairly widely accepted, the Hawks are, overall, a slightly faster team than the Sharks.

I agree, you are all assuming too much (that are commenting back to me) I did admit that in a game with no uneven scoring, it was not guaranteed that we would score...but thanks for reading what I wrote first.

I also took issue with the blogger saying that the Hawks carried the momentum for the majority of the game...there were spurts of course like with every hockey game, but for the majority of the night they looked off

- corvusmd

San Jose had the momentum up until the Hawks got tired of them taking runs at will. Bickell responded with a couple of nice hits and the Sharks magically turned into Guppies. From that point on, the Hawks carried the play for most of the night, as evidenced by the 4 straight, unanswered goals. There were a lot of factors. The Sharks playing the 3rd game in 4 nights was killer. The Hawks experienced that against Calgary. But to claim that the Hawks won because of luck and officiating is absurd.

I never said that I see your point. I'm sorry, I don't, not when you take it to the conclusion that the outcome of the game would have been different.

You were outplayed—not because your defensemen made uncharacteristic mistakes (as you're trying to say) or because of bad calls, but maybe, maybe because your team was less rested. So get over it.

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish by arguing with HAWKS fans on a freaking Hawks board. Do you want us to say "OMG YOU'RE SO RIGHT - THAT CALL WAS SO BAD AND YOU SHOULD HAVE WON. SORRY BRO".

If so, you're not going to get it here

Go back to your boards. Rub one out. Move on with your life.

There were lapses in Sharks play, esp by our goalie and a few D men I admit...they were tired from the game the night before, but that's not an excuse is why I never brought it up...all teams will have to go through that. But saying the Hawks controlled play is lying to yourself, of course there where moments when they did, but overall they looked sloppy. They couldn't connect passes, they had very little zone time, a few times I had to count the Hawks on the ice to make sure we didn't have a PP I missed cause they couldn't get it out of their own zone. Many times when their zone was cleared, it had nothing to do with the Hawks, either the Sharks made a bad pass or the man on the line couldn't hold it in, but then we'd recover and bring it right back in. Hawks were constantly getting stripped of the puck, and the few times they stripped us of the puck they immediately lost it. They were out hit, and beat on the boards constantly....should I go on...WE THE SHARKS DID NOT HAVE OUR BEST GAME I ADMIT, but despite that...your team in NO WAY out played us no matter how much you want to believe it. Have your day, smile, feel good...you got two points and we didn't, but despite the loss, I DID actually leave the stadium feeling overall good about my team, we lost which sucked...but other than some bad plays by few players...I felt we were the better team last night

Here's an honest question that might be very skewed by the board I'm posting this on...

Is Jonathan Toews your favorite Chicago athlete... of all time?

I realize there are a LOT to choose from.

You're so eloquent. Thanks for proving my whole point. I NEVER expected you to agree, unless you're willing to see that sometimes you're team has a bad night. You don't have to agree, I just wanted to pop your little delusional bubbles and let you know that there is a real world out here. I know that not all Hawks fans are delusional, but this board has yielded a few

This whole area is a little sensitive right now to questionable officiating after the Super Bowl. The lady friend was still talking about Sunday's football game last night.

That's your right. I have no quarrel with that, though I disagree. But really, don't you think mistakes, bad passes, turnovers can be forced by the speed/quality of the opposition. I evidently don't know remotely as much about the game as deke dangles, but gee, in my small Neanderthal brain pan, that certainly seems plausible.

But like I say, fatigue, I think is a valid excuse. the Hawks were incredibly lucky to get 2 points Saturday in Calgary for the same reason. Dead legs.

I think the main point is the Sharks had a 2 goal lead and couldn't score again in the final 40 mins...Call or no call they didn't outplay the Hawks.

In reality, the play as John said was close enough to warrant an ejection.

Whether it warrants a suspension not sure...but if Shanny feels he targeted the head he probably will get a game off.

Not necessarily best, but favorite:

Jordan
Pippen (loved his defense - best defensive non-center player of his time, IMO)
Hull (B not D)

^^ This

What a crock of horse dung that this guy continues to say that the Sharks somehow outplayed the Hawks - they didn't. The Hawks are 8-0-2 for a reason. The hit was certainly questionable on ice and the reason why the Hawks best defensive player jumped in knowing full well he's putting his team at a huge disadvantage.

Bit of everything in my opinion. On 2 of the 3 goals, I swore the Sharks looked like they were on a Power Play.

Mayers didn't see it that way.

Mayers was convinced he took a blow to the head.

"Yeah absolutely," he said. "It was a hit to the head. I’m not sure if it was elbow or forearm or whatever it was. We’re trying to get that out of our game. "

I'm glad the league is clamping down on these kind of hits.

Of course he didn't, genius.....He has to toe the company line...

The proof is in the video & the NHL owning up to the fact that they made a mistake.

And how would he know where he got hit since Desi flattened him & he was loopy for a few minutes afterwards?

So what's your point?

I thought it was a clean hit.

Bad calls happen every night. No one knows that better than us. All we have to do is look back at the hit on Hossa that merited a 25-game suspension, yet that hit didn't result in a penalty at all, not even a 2-minute minor.

Yes, SJ probably should have had a 4-minute power play. Yet neither you nor anyone else can say SJ would have won had that call been made.

Move on.
