Yeah, I didn't mean 50 points, I mean what would be 50 points over a full season. So, 32 points or whatever?

And yeah, the rest of Gagner's game is still just terrible.

Kadri and Frattin have been a huge part of carrying the team, in Kessel's slump. But, much like Gagner, I don't expect Kadri to continue being a point per game guy. I'd be surprised if he hits 32 points too, and he's obviously a lot better than Gagner. I doubt Frattin hits 20 goals either, despite him being on pace for more.

- prock

Faceoffs have been the big thing. The rest of his game is looking pretty good.

I love how you just slip that right in there.

Well, you touched on his faceoffs in the previous post. Just responding to that.

Ah I see. Yeah it is frustrating to watch Nuge and Gagner, when guys like Smyth who don't have much experience with faceoffs do better just by being able to outmuscle and battle guys. The two young guys should either working on having the fastest hand-eye or hit the gym a bit, right now their tools are kind of limited in the dot.

or, when you said slip that right in there... Did you mean the "obviously Kadri is much better"?

Just playing around there.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. Right now they're similar: boys who think the game well, doing as good as they can playing against full-grown men.

Only difference is that Gags has less time left on the clock, although knowing Toronto's pressure I wouldn't have been surprised if Kadri was on his last stand at the beginning of the season.

After his first few years, I still think the Leafs would be lucky to get a 50 to 60 point winger out of him. Which, hope for that was starting to dissipate. But, his play this year has renewed that hope. If they get any more than that, I'd be surprised. Pleasantly so.

Holy (frank), ANOTHER break for the Oilers.

So now buy-out candidate, Shawn Horcoff, goes down and will be placed on LTIR and suddenly the Oilers find themselves with an additional $5.5M in cap space.

Some teams...

We didn't need the cap space in the first place.

Who's panacking? The Oilers have looked terrible the last few games. Don't put a spin on it.
- doon

exactly.

no ones panicking. every one of those words is completely true along with some thoughts on how to make this team better. 2 different concepts completely.

Ya I always felt Wilson had some untapped offense playing under trots. However trotz is grooming a solid two way player that we could take advantage of. Granted Nashville needs scoring forwards, I agree paajarvi would fit well there.

How high are the ducks on Peter holland? There are options for tambo he's just got to pick up the phone and make the decisions a gm is hired to do (if he hasn't been calling already)

I don't thin Anthem wants anything to do with the Oilers after Schultz

That's precisely why I say it's renewed "hope". If it were more than that, I would have said it looks like they have that, or other. I'm not, by any stretch, claiming he is one. But it looks like there may be hope yet.

Instead of always thinking we need different dmen, how about the whole team commit to playing better defense?
- OilHorse

it's both.

alot of those forwards just flat out arent that good at it. and what u say would help.

but our defence is only marginally better than the debacle its been in the past few years. potter, whitney, a rookie, fistric..even smid and petry who i think can be great long term and are our most dependable pairing, have been pretty error prone lately.

we do need different/better dmen

Smid and Fistric are our most legit defensive minded guys. Petry doesnt get near the credit he should for his two way play.

after that yeah...

No, but it certainly doesn't hurt either is my point, ESPECIALLY if the Oilers find themselves in a favorable position in the standings come trade deadline.
