couture is worth way more than that... He's a big center and has proven him self already at the nhl level. Gagner has yet to get 50 points. Nevermind a 30 goal season.

Plus they play a different game.

- Killbot460

So your agreeing with me?

Though couture is a beast and plays pretty big hes not that big, not small but decent sized. i think like 6-1 200lb or something

ya! he's worth more than a mid first rounder or what ever you stated... and he's big compared to gagner.

Gagner is more of a pass first guy and couture is a scorer

I don't think people on this site know what a 1st round pick is worth.

nashville traded their 1st for Gaustad.
Detroit traded their 1st for Quincey.

Gagner and Couture are both 150% worth 1sts. Couture probably a top 1-3 pick and Gagner probably a 7-10

If anything if I was running the oilers I would I would look at getting some protection for some of your stars or your list is going to get awful short over a season.

Gaustad would be good for this team IMO, hes what 6'4'' and 220, that can win draws, provide leadership and some toughness. It would be a solid pick up at least for the short tearm.
- Killbot460

I don't know if Gaustad can be had for cheap. His contract is slightly pricey for a 3C. He is a good option though, when I thought EDM could have signed him and bought out Horcoff for the 3C and Belanger as 4C. However I do like Belanger's play this season and wouldn't mind him being 3C and AHL call up to be 4C.

Your other suggestion of Konopka is also a good option.

I just think we need some grit in the bottom 6 to wear down the opposing defenders.

Did he break the knuckle diving like the rest of the Oilers last night?

Potter, Yakupov, Eberle and Hall dove or embellished plays last night. It's amazing how fans say Canucks players dive (which they do) and act like their players are saints.

I hope you live in a village because if you don't you are really depriving one of a good idiot.

Back to the old , "We have more Cups than you.... even tough we haven't won a Cup in 23 years"

It would be like Leaf fans saying we have 13 Cups to your 5! Even they aren't stupid enough to use that line.

- scoot174

NO that's the argument to the rest of the league, which I agree is old, outdated, and stale. The chirps at the Flames are especially fun because the Oilers literally stole your chances at Cups all of those years and after a huge window of opportunity for the Flames (yeah, like 23years), that nightmare looks like it's about to repeat for the Flames.

You had your chance to win and have success over the past years and managment blew it...now you're going to have to go into a rebuild and you didn't even get to have any successful years. So the Oil crushed your chances in the 80s, your managment blew it up in the 90s and 2000s, and now the Oil will take away all Calgary hopes for another 10years. It's something that I won't even harp on too much, it must hurt.

Total pushovers.

Not to mention the scores of the hockey games. Edmonton has been a great place for the Sedins to make a living.

- dshiddy

I agree with pretty much ALL of your statements. When you'd like to venture your way back to the original subject I'll be here. Which of those goons fighting or Sedins scoring has to do with Canucks chipping and chirping? (the Sedins are great!!!! I appreciate their skill)

Canucks were called pushovers...that was the original subject.

Who let you stay up past your bed time little guy? Leaf's fans might try and say something like you insinuate but well 1967 is a lot longer than 1989/90 for relevance and time frame. As well the whole 6 team league also makes their cup number irrelevant too. How many Stanley Cups do the Atlanta/Calgary Flames franchises have combined? Just curious?? I bet Edmonton has won more playoff rounds in one decade than your sorry franchises have in their entire existence. We also are re-building for another long run at the playoffs here. How about you guys? Are the Flamers just a player or two away from being an upper echelon team?

personally eager woud scare me 6'2'' 235 and faster than hall and not scared to be suspended or (frank) up his own team in a playoff game.... No he's not the best fighter but running sedin from behind. Or suckering Armstrong. I'd be scared of that.

He ran Sedin from behind and we scored twice on the pp.

Eager is an idiot, I wouldn't want him anywhere near my young players. Bad influence.

Islanders have lots of offensive weapons and may prefer a defensive prospect for Nelson. Would klefbom for Nelson be fair? Klefboms development may become hampered with injuries. Then again I constantly hear good things about him. Something to consider. Nelson might be closer to NHL ready then klefbom as well since klefbom will have to adjust to the North American game.

I also like the paajarvi and Eller swap mentioned earlier.

I don't know why the Oilers would buy out Horcoff. They're cap situation is sitting in a decent spot next year. And in two years they have only like 20 mil committed.

Good faceoff guys don't grow on trees either.
