Sorry, they have the 5th best PP, the 3rd best PK, and have been top 3 in goals scored in the NHL for most of the season, with Evgeni Nabokov in net. They're a playoff contender.
- isles10289

Sorry, but that is after less than 10 games. If I remember correctly the Isle did ok for a spell last year as well. Maybe they make the PO, but I don't think a few good looking stats 7 or 8 games in convinces a player like Iginla to go play for them.

IF, and that is a large 'IF' he waves, it will be to a perenial contender; PIT, NYR, LAK, BOS, he may even believe that WAS and PHI still have what it takes and why wouldn't he. STL may be a long shot but they have shown a lot more than the Isle. Sorry dude, NYI have to show a lot more and for a couple of more years me thinks.

Your team is going to finish in the league bottom 5 again this season, and probably next season. Nino Niederreiter already wants out. Okposo hasn't developed very well in 7 years. NY Islanders have picked in the top 5 for 4 straight drafts, top 10 for 6. You once picked Tim Connolly 5th overall. The only other time I have seen this many top picks amount to nothing is when the NY Islanders had 11 top 10 picks in 7 years, including 2 #1s and a #2. In only 7 years NY Isles were back in the top 10 picking order, and don't forget they traded down from 5th overall. Your team is the reason players secure 'no trade" clauses in their contracts.

Keep laughing. Didn't we just embarrass your team last week? And the two times before that?

So much to work with here.

1. Nino doesn't want out; he's already said his agent said it without approval. Regardless, he's not going anywhere.
2. Okposo scored 24 goals last year.
3. We drafted Tim Connolly about 15 years ago, when you were probably not born.

We all know the issues the Islanders have had; only fools refuse to see the progress being made. It's quite clear who really follows other teams, and who doesn't, based on comments like this.

2007, 5 game loss to Buffalo in Round 1. Before that was 2004, a loss in round 1 to the Lightning in 5. In fact, the last time the Islanders made it pas the QFs was 1993. That's 5 losses in the QFs and 13 seasons of not qualifying for the playoffs since. Wanna waive your no-trade clause yet? I have more.

Yes, progress has been made, but to act like the Islanders are a contender because of a good 8 game stretch is laughable. Yes, the Isles have some good young forwards to build around, but they are still lacking on the defensive end, and their goaltending situation is shakey, at best.

1) That means he told his agent not to say it, not that it isn't accurate.
2) Pascal Dupuis had 25 goals last season and he was undrafted.
3) Your team drafted Raffi Torres 5th overall.

At the assertion that Iginla would waive his NTC on the strength of the Islanders statistic integrity, I thought that the facts must be faced.

Has to start somewhere right?? Pens were a bigger joke then the isles and bettman handed them crosby a few first top 3 picks and some good pick ups and they won the cup..

Not many teams had a milbury to ruin a franchise. Takes time to recover from that milbury era..

Why would you care about a team that the avs play most twice a year? i honestly wouldn't give 2 craps about a team that plays on the west coast especially a team from Colorado.. I read a few of you're comments about the Isles and all are hateful.. so im curious why so much hate for a team that's on the east coast???

I always love the "Pens were a joke" comments. The Penguins missed the playoffs for 4 years, that's it. People seem to forget that they were in the conference finals in 2001 against the Devils.

Wang saved the franchise.. Sure he messed up with the Dipietro long term contract. Also at the time of that contract DP was an All star and played for team US .. How was Wang to know that DP was made out of glass? if DP stayed healthy and played half of that contract it would still have been a bargain at 4 mill per.. But things don't always work out the way you plan them..

Isles have been doing a decent job at picking up guys and not throwing huge $$$ at players like many teams...

a team missing the playoffs for 4 years and a few years before that winning 2 cups on a verge of moving
because no1 was showing up at the arena isn't a joke right..

If any team had a milbury do what he did to the Islanders well besides the leafs. Hardly any fans would show up for games..

Is it hateful to simply point out that the NY Islanders have enjoyed twice the top 5 draft picks that you're chiding that Penguins fan over since the last time your team won a playoff round? They picked 5th overall in 1990 (Jagr), the 4th top-5 pick in 5 years. It took their franchise until 2002 to hit bottom and receive that many high picks again. The Islanders took a short 4 year break between picking in the top 10 for six drafts and counting after picking in the top 10 11 times in 12 years. The Penguins have won the Stanley Cup 3 times since 1990, the Islanders can't get Lubomir Visnovsky to report to the team. Just saying.

Wang buying the team was the first, last, and only positive thing he did for the franchise. He is awful.
