I'm sure some are.. But also i'm sure a lot aren't, or have even been to a hockey game. Leafs home games are becoming so corporate that it's affecting the product on the ice, which in return is affecting the moral of the rest of the fans. I never really meant to blow up on you. It's all about money and not about the game. For those of us who grew up in a small town in northern ontario who would never miss a game, now don't get to see them because SN or Leafs tv or whoever decides that it would be more profitable to make us pay for it. There is a massive spin off on all this.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

This is so not true. Less than .01 % of the Leafs fans, get to attend a game each year.

Sports have always been about the money. Blame the (mostly) stagnant economy or rapidly growing technological advancement - both of which have a far greater effect on the cost of equipment, training, marketing... etc.

How can you possibly know this when you aren't from Toronto, and have never been to a Leafs game?
- Atomic Wedgie

I've been to at least 20 games... Driving 4 hours to Toronto isn't that big of a deal, even if you have poopty tickets.

Jason Bourne is looking for you.

He is on his way from peru, on a train.

- Aetherial

I could figure out a way to stop him now, but bah - I'm kinda busy.

I'll just wait until he arrives at Union Station, and stand by the doorway where passengers come through, and hope to kill him there.

And did you walk down to the platinum section, and give every fan a written exam on hockey history, rules and uniform numbers?

that being said it is insanely difficult to get a ticket.. you pretty much have to know someone or pay a scalper big $

why toronto doesnt have a second team is beyond me.. well.. i get it.. its some sort of politics i assume.

fact remains.. its extremely difficult for the majority of leaf fans to get their hands on tickets. thats 100% true. so when the majority of people who are dying to see a game live but never can manage to pull it off see the people who do have tickets not be in their seat for puck drop its infuriating.

and to be honest, justifiably so. its akin to a thirsty man watching another man with 10 bottles of water pouring them into the drain.

I think you'd be amazed at just how easy it is to get a ticket.

And for a weeknight game, you aren't going to be paying more than a 20% premium.

Seriously, it's not nearly as hard as most people think.

Maybe, but I know some jackasses that are industrious or/and smart, so to speak, but I would never call them sophisticated.
- A_Tree

yea, it's true...

But compare the people you see at the cineplex at Scarborough Town Center with the people you see at Roy Thompson hall... Even the biggest jackass in the second group can't compare with the average teenager with his pants half-way down his ass.

Other cities, those front-row tickets are the price of a movie ticket.

The last time I got tickets it was 2010...was not that hard..but the best part is that I just got a cheque in the mail for $55.00 from the results of a class action law suit for those tickets (was a law suit against the ticket company, not the leafs for sucking that game).

not that I like to discuss random trade tweets from what are most likely teens in their parents basement...

Unless it was an overpayment of sorts, I dont see the point in dealing Kuli.
Is he worth a 1st rounder? Def a late 1st I would think, the odds of you getting someone better out of a trade like this is slim. So what a prospect and a 2nd?
If its for anything less, I dont see the point

- senstroll

Yea, pretty much anything short of an overpayment will look bad on the Leafs, when his chemistry with Malkin, and the playing time that comes from being his winger throws him back in the 30 goal range.

Yea I guess you could say that. I think it's probably unfair to generalize either demographic so much as to say one group is more/less sophisticated than the other. On the other hand, I don't think you're too far off with this judgement.

Go to their website ...they have a last minute club (I think that's what it's called) ...they'll fire you an email the day before a game if it hasn't sold out. I think they also send you an email at the start of the season for pre-sale seats.

Speaking for season tix holders ....Last year I couldn't give some of my midweek seats away. So watch kijiji and craigslist.

Well, it's one thing to generalize... that's why we deal with demographics, so long as you don't make the same assumptions for the individual that you do for the group.

10 years ago, I had people begging me for my pre-season games.

Yeah, those days are long gone.

Once again, let me stress: I meant Leafs fans are more sophisticated in that they have a greater understanding and appreciation of the finer aspects of the game of hockey than do Philly or Nashville fans.

Because most Leafs fans in the building will have played the game at one time or another.

And a word of caution to everyone out there: Leafs tickets have a bar code. But for any game, I can go to the Ticketmaster website and print out my tickets, instantly making the bar code on the original paper copy invalid.

So just because some guy is selling you the paper tickets, don't assume they will work.
