Only 2% of the players is the league have done that the last 4 years. - LeafMan
Exactly my point, and the guy is 25. Its not like a random fluke later in his career, nor has he had much help from his linemates during that span. Which speaks volumes. Its not one of those cases where you say "Well hes playing with Malkin, so hes really not doing it on his own, playing with elite talent has helped him alot"
The guy has had Bozak and Crabb as linemates at times. |

Would you trade Kessel straight up for Bobby Ryan? - ThePresident
If we trade Kessel, it is for a #1 centre.
Nothing less. |

I added an edit,
it was in an article recently and that was for 3 years, it drops to about 1.2% for 4 years. |

Yeah, I hate to say it, but the return you get on Kessel won't be worth it.
Pray to goodness he re-signs here, or this team is effed.
Not that we aren't already effed... |

Well done LM, proves my point as well as it can get.
Yet people want to compare him to Ryder who is 32, or suggest he isnt one of the best goal scorers in the game the past few years |

Trade Kessel for top prospects and 1st round picks.
The #1 center problem will solve itself with subsequent tanking which will ensue. |

Ive never seen him play with marlies so only judging his two nhl games this year but Holzer looks awful. I thought he was to be a shut down D man? He is all over the place - Popcorn Kid
And then i question the Aulie trade, id say Aulie played a better game |

The sad part is it was from Cox who wrote it, lol.
But all you have to do is go through the scoring leaders over those years and see it is a very small group. |

The Ryder stuff is obvious trolling.
At no point would we ever think Ryder is in the 98th percentile of goal scorers. At no point would Ryder ever be considered to be in the hunt for 6th in the points race with Tyler Bozak as his center. |

Kessel wanting to walk away and forcing the Leafs to trade him is the best thing the Leafs can hope for. |

Probably Ryan, but trading Kessel for Ryan doesnt make this team all that much better. We need to upgrade Bozak before we ever even consider upgrading Kessel.
There are very few players in the league who can score like Kessel when hes on his game. |

Disagree 100%.
The leafs getting a player remotely as good as Kessel by trading him is the best thing the Leafs can hope for.

Very true, but if we were able to acquire Bobby Ryan, I do think it would improve the Leafs, he's more of a presence out on the ice. Given Kessels contract status, it may be better to acquire Ryan with a longer, more friendly cap hit, before either having to sign Kessel to 7 mill or lose him for nothing. Perhaps if we trade for Ryan, we'll have an easier time of luring Getzlaf to Toronto... |

Depends on who is in the playoff race at the trade deadline and who is willing to sell a piece of their future for immediate results.
Jeff Carter got a young prospect / player and a 1st twice in the same year last year. It was just a matter of finding a GM dumb enough (Howson) or a GM who wanted to make a playoff run (Lombardi). |
