exactly.

i think once again were just in a bit of a poop spot and everyone is looking to point fingers.

only finger i can point right now is at dion.

he is the captain and needs to step it up, whether thats a big hit, a fight, or to simply take some control in the dressing room and get a ball of fire under the boys ass' and get them going.

hitting the net would be a good start...

We all see things differently but I see someone giving an honest effort, kinda what we want to see, for me anyway.

I have a different meaning of a 2 way forward I guess, he works hard both sides of the red line and is chipping in with some points.
- LeafMan

Well he is one of my fave Leafs...

It has been a while now since he was a dynamic offensive force. I am kind of agreeing with Wedgie's assessment at the moment.

Bozak sucks but it doesn't mean he can't use van Riemsdyk more often.

At the moment, Kessel is playing like doesn't trust anybody but himself and is being very selfish. That only compounds the issue because all teams have to do is collapse on him and the whole 1st line is neutralized.

Valid point...

He has no other options.

Would you pass to Bozak?

- Atomic Wedgie

If he was open at the side of the net. Yes.

I want to see a decent draft pick and the Leaf getting a true offensive blue chip prospect.

They aren't winning any cups this year, or next or next etc. So who cares.

To recap: UG officially believes Kessel is an elite goalscorer.

He just took 12 pages to come to that realization.

Yes, when he enters the zone 1-on-3 or 1-on-2 by virtue of being the best offensive player on the ice, he should do the unselfish thing and dump the puck into the corner and turn it over harmlessly.

Maybe he can go back to the bench for a line change.

He is not a 30 goal scorer, that was a career year, he should be around a 15 to 20, with a good work ethic in all three zones, some are expecting too much from the guy. imo.

He'd whiff on it. He has about 90-100 missed open nets from cross crease passes every year.

LEAFS TV has got to go. With this shortened season especially, I hardly get to see any games. Such a monopoly! Like the team isn't making enough money as it is with their consistently terrible product they put on the ice, season after season.

How often is this honestly the case? And, he does, in fact, do that a lot of the time. But Bozak doesn't bury them because he's Tyler frickin' Bozak.

I want to bottle what Matt Frattin is drinking and give it to the other guys on this team. The guy is a worker. I hope it rubs off on the others.

Would it kill him to pass to van Riemsdyk, who also knows how to shoot?

Would it kill that line to cycle the puck?

I would still pass him the puck, and punch him in the head when I got back to the bench.

Yes, every single low percentage shot he has ever taken is because he's on a 1-on-3.

Excellent.

We should trade him for John Mitchell because thats an equal trade. (Sorry... its just every time I watch Frattin play I giggle inside from that conversation)

Good point.

I am really wondering though if the problems have nothing to do with coaching or effort.

It might just be that these guys are not big enough and not skilled enough, top to bottom.
