The Leafs are open to salary dumps once those pieces are exchanged. Apart from cap space, is there any other issue as in the value of players traded or teams needs?

That's what your turn was for.

- hooligoon

Its a decent deal, but the Leafs wouldnt be getting back near what I would like.

To recap: UG officially believes Kessel is an elite goalscorer.

He just took 12 pages to come to that realization.

- Leeman4Gilmour

The "flip flop" was great, from being an elite goal scorer to not being an elite goal scorer all in one post.

And, as previously pointed out, he wouldn't even be able to go out and get a drink to make it better.

Did it take you 12 pages to realize that the argument was about him being an elite player?

Also, had nothing to say about him not being the top of his class in goal scoring?

If by setting up plays you mean taking a 40 foot shot into shin pads and sticks, yeah, he's setting up plays all the time.

You're getting pedantic now, Uggie. We're arguing semantics.

It is Kessel's job to score goals. By your admission, he scores goals at an elite level. Therefore, Kessel performs his job at an elite level.

4 assists
countless set up's to dion for the 1 timer (miss net)
countless set up's to Koskta coming in from the point (cant handle pass)
numerous opportunity's in front for bozak - hes only scored rebounds.

id show footage in a bunch of different youtube clips, but i dont care to prove anything to you. that requires time and effort, and this is about as much as you'll get out of me.

- big_dion

Theres no doubt that Kessel has been unlucky for the most part, but a lot of his lack of success is due to not battling hard enough for the puck.

i honestly think whats killing our games is phaneuf and kostka out on the pp. they have no idea how to run a pp. Also why not put kessel out with kadri on the pp and use liles to quarterback. obviously phaneuf and kostka isnt working. Why the hell does carlyle keep going back to them

Glad to see his playmaking is on par with Kostka and Liles.

There is a different between an elite player and an elite goal scorer. Pavel Datsyuk is in a different class than Kessel. When Kessel can score 70-80 points and be as capable defensively as he is offensively, then you can talk about him being an elite player. Until then, he's a one-dimensional goal scorer who isn't even at that top of his class in that category.

I think its a bit early to be jumping all over Carlyle... but I have to agree with this.

It seems painfully obvious while watching the games that there needs to be a change to the powerplay. Specifically in the quartberbacking department. I'm not sure what the answer is... but I am sure you're not going to find the answer without trying new combinations.

These are good questions, can we count on the Toronto media to ask them? Or would they rather discuss Luongo and Kessel's goalless streak?

It's the facts. At the moment, his playmaking isn't anything special. He's far too busy taking low percentage shots than he is worrying about using his linemates effectively.
