So it's harder to score goals consistently than it is to play a solid 200 foot game while scoring.

You mean that elite, top line talent benefits from playing with top line centers?
You mean Marc Savard is a more fitting player for Kessel to play with than Tyler Bozak?! No way!
Consider this: Kessel was actually able to maintain and improve his production going from Savard to Bozak. It's almost as if he possesses some sort of natural, innate talent for being an elite goalscorer or something. - Leeman4Gilmour

He doesn't need perma banned. He just has to learn the importance of letting others have their own opinions, and everyone has to stop taking poop personally. Having different opinions is what makes places like this exciting. How much fun would we be having here if all we did was agree. Dude, Frenchie has schooled me left right and centre on here for example, I've learned alot from him, and I hope likewise my constant Cory Conacher mentions make him more open to overagers making the NHL.
Now that Beatle John guy and Dshiddy/scooby, the can all go to (frank)ing hell. - mykokes
Isn't it a little odd that the Leafs would sign every useless stiff they could find in the NCAA from Hanson to Irwin to Bozak and yet the kid from Burlington goes undetected?
Unbelievable.
It does help playing with Stamkos, St. Louis and Lecavalier though. Probably speeds up the process a lot. |

Komi should be in, if he's not hurt
Is Jake Gardiner really doing that bad that he shouldn't be starting in front of guys like Fraser or Holzer? What's going on? I hope we see some different line combos tonight. I'd put Kadri with Kessel maybe Macarthur on the other side, at least something different. The offense has not been clicking obviously, time for a change up. - blahman20

I'm sure if Holmgren could get his hands on Phaneuf he would be all over it to fill the gaping hole Pronger left and no Shcenn seems to be able to fill it. see what I did there, used schenn instead of one. Phaneuf isn't Pronger by any means, but he would fill the need just fine.
In my humble POV, Kessel would fill a need better than Phaneuf would even being labeled soft and 1 dimentional player. The guy can score and that's the need. The Flyers need a first line sniper to play with Giroux instead of relying on Hartnell/Simmonds to match their career highs from last year. That need has already led to speculation about the Flyers throwing a huge offer at Perry in the offseason.
Bottom line, this trade would benefit both:
Toronto:
Get their long coveted big center at age 20 in Sean Couturier and a complete right winger in Simmonds (grit, scoring ability and defensively responsible) who can drop the gloves and or make you pay on the wall who is just 24 years old. Grossman would fill for Phaneuf wonderfully and a 1 st rounder to balance.
Philli:
Get a pretty good replacement for Pronger and finally has a line that maches up to the Pens top line in Hartnell-Giroux-Kessel

Consider this: Kessel is still only able to do one thing on an elite level and the rest of his game is still littered with holes. Not to mention, the one thing he does do right, is not only inconsistent but it's also predictable. Also, he's never been the top of his class in goal scoring. Never scored 40, 50 or 60 like the other elite goal scorers. |

Semin is a elite player..anybody who can finish in the top 10 in the NHL is considered elite. You guys and mixing up the elite player and elite scorer and elite body checker and elite backchecker...like Chris Kelly is a great back checker but he is not elite at anything hockey related...elite players are the ones people pay to watch PERIOD!!! Kessel is an elite hockey player...wouldnt be my choice for MY team..but I am only a fan and cheer for the team he got picked for...UNFORTUNATELY...because he is soft and he is soft and he is soft and he is soft..woops...sorry got stuck!!!! |

The Leafs are open to salary dumps once those pieces are exchanged. Apart from cap space, is there any other issue as in the value of players traded or teams needs?
That's what your turn was for. |
