all this worry about kessel

and dion phaneuf our captain and supposed to be leader is playing the worst hockey ive seen him play in his career.

cant hit the net
cant lay a hit
cant defend a forward coming in wide
wont fight for his team to gain a spark
what he hell is he doing out there? 30 mins a game!!! 6 shots, 1 on net.

if anyone needs to be called it, this is who.

kessel is doing everything but scoring, talking about him right now is a waste, because he will score and then he will score more and this will be forgotten....while dion is still sucking the big one.

I didnt see anyone say it at the time of my post, and there is no flip flop. Just a justification. I can see you're in the zone today. Have at her.

A top 10 scorer isn't the same as an elite player. People are getting those two things confused. They see the points and they assume he must be an elite player too. He's not.

Kessel scoring goals and points in a wide open Ron Wilson system might impress you but it's still not enough to prove he's an elite player. There's a difference between top 10 scorer and elite player. Alexander Semin was a top 10 scorer and a 40 goal scorer. Doesn't make him an elite player.
- Two_For_Truth

He was when he wanted to be. Semin though seemed to think his year ended in April.

If you base everything on a useless plus minus stat, than I really don't have much to say to you.
- LeafMan

the plus minus stat is when you know you have nothing.

hell they dont even count + - when your on the PP or PK.

and if they did, add all phils goals and assists on the PP and he'd easily be in the +

why do you think some of the best 2 way players in the league are in the - and deep in the -? because they play a shutdown role and are vs the other teams best line.

UG never brings any valid points to an arguement - so not much point having him in here really.

Absolutely no way he was. He was a goal scorer and top 10 point producer but at no time was Semin an elite player. He has absolutely no other qualities to his game that are remotely elite.

You want to tell the difference between an elite scorer and an elite player? Put Alexander Semin next to Pavel Datsyuk. There's your difference.

If you base everything on offensive stats that were inflated by playing in a wide open offensive style, than I really don't have much to say to you.

You obviously ignore that Kessel is worthless defensively, gives the puck away, isn't a leader, isn't tough, isn't physical, isn't consistent and is most definitely not an elite all around player.

He does one thing great and the rest of his game is littered with holes but he's still an elite player.

Sure.

More to do with it than Ron Wilson's wide open style? Possible but they both contributed to that.
- Two_For_Truth

Just like Claude Julien's notoriously wide open style in Boston where Kessel put up 36 goals?

Carlylye has to go already..unless he is shooting for the 1st pick overall. Does he not notice that every time..and I mean EVERY TIME he puts Orr's line on the ice - all they do is dump it down for an icing...and then they face the best line and stand around in their own zone until they get scored on or ice it again???? MacArthur = Brutal..really $3mill/yr wow...get my steroids out...1 mth of juice and I can do what MacArthur does..( I havent played in 8 yrs ) = Phaneuf...really where are you going on that powerplay..you just rush out to the point and leave ERIC STAAL alone by the net??? KESSEL please quit and join the local lawn bowling league - snap shots from the top of the circle...what??? Blow up the team..keep Grabo/Kuleman/Lupul ( I guess ) Frattin/Kadri if you can't trade him for a 1st rounder/Gunnarson/Franson...if you teach him what URGENCY is/Liles really $4.5 million right after a concussion..they should have made him retire...I don't know what to think of this team...One day I think they are about to turn the corner the next day....it's time to blow up the team.

He doesn't need perma banned. He just has to learn the importance of letting others have their own opinions, and everyone has to stop taking poop personally. Having different opinions is what makes places like this exciting. How much fun would we be having here if all we did was agree. Dude, Frenchie has schooled me left right and centre on here for example, I've learned alot from him, and I hope likewise my constant Cory Conacher mentions make him more open to overagers making the NHL.

Now that Beatle John guy and Dshiddy/scooby, the can all go to (frank)ing hell.

So it's harder to score goals consistently than it is to play a solid 200 foot game while scoring.

Right.

You mean that elite, top line talent benefits from playing with top line centers?

You mean Marc Savard is a more fitting player for Kessel to play with than Tyler Bozak?! No way!

Consider this: Kessel was actually able to maintain and improve his production going from Savard to Bozak. It's almost as if he possesses some sort of natural, innate talent for being an elite goalscorer or something.

He was at one time. He, Ovie and Backstrom all were. No need for anyone to cosign this for it to be a fact.
