Schopp wants honesty and truthiness from his athletic celebrities and then will roast them over the fire when they do. He is the defenition of "that guy".

Great post. Schopp and the Bulldog make the point about "who you gonna replace Ruff with?" Can't stand that.
- adambuffalo

Penguins replaced Therrien with little known AHL coach Disco Dan Bylsma. Just a few quotes from an article relating to the move:

“We believe we need a change in direction and, with 25 games remaining in the regular season, our goal remains to finish strong and qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs,” Penguins general manager Ray Shero said. “Dan Bylsma is one of the bright young coaches in the game and has done an exceptional job as the head coach in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.”

"Therrien’s firing comes less than 24 hours after the team’s embarrassing loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs last night. He has not been re-assigned within the organization."

"Clearly, such a move is an indication that owner Mario Lemieux will not accept the team missing the playoffs."

"The next few days will be crucial in determining if the move was enough to spark the players or if player moves are necessary."

The argument of "Who are you going to replace with Ruff" servces absolutely no merit anymore.

Some of the smarter posters on here like them. I think they bring nothing to the table. Example.
Mike Schopp : "I would trade the entire Sabres roster for the Islanders roster"
Then proceeded to barely be able to name players on their team. Did not know who Neiderriter was. Was gloating about Grabner. Grabner? Really, look at his numbers. Identical to Stafford's numbers over the past 2 seasons. They just have absolutely no clue about the sport they are talking about.

I dont like him casue I dont think he is knowledgeable outside of the Buffalo teams. My biggest hatered is he has 0% of anythign college football then talks about the draft like he ahs some sort of clue when all he does is regurj whatever buscalia tells them.

It's just as bad as the "Ruff will get scooped up in a heartbeat," argument. I hate that. He might win somewhere else... so what? It doesn't look like he's going to win it all here.

Enroth is terrible

terrible backup. decent to good starter.

i think they had the right idea a couple years ago with the backup.

youve got a starter and a veteran minimum contract in game back up who would play if a goalie change during a game was necessary (injury, sucking).

then you call up the kid (who doesnt need to clear waivers) who has been playing regularly in the minors and is still sharp.

just an old goalie's thoughts...

Call up pardy and expose a d man to waivers when all is healthy instead of calling up McNabb or pysyk

Makes perfect sense

I dont think they care if he gets claimed off waivers honestly

that quick guy is terrible.. Niemi is not elite in his play, but he was elite in his winning ability that season.

He was splitting time in 05/06. I guess my point is you don't need elite goaltending. You need 'hot' goaltending with solid D.

another example is Detroit. Hasek didn't win that Cup, Howard did.

Think of the goaltenders that won it and if they were Seasoned/Veteran Elite back then.

There are exceptions of course (NJ)

I would wish Ruff nothing but the very best of luck as I do for all parting Sabres. Fact is it's just not working here. But "working" means sliding into the playoffs and a first round exit for our organization.

exactly.. what are we proving by holding on to him? he is not going to win here.. and honestly i don't think he will win anywhere, his method just doesn't fit the current NHL. you can't win by trying not to lose

And the worst part of it when someone does call in (ive known several who have) about say the draft and people have insite they just say somethign along the lines of oh ive never seen them play or I dont know about that player. They wont listen and just shut you off

i think you guys give him a bad rap.

his main job is to facilitate because bulldog cannot do that, he is personable but is tangential. mike has to give the discussion order or it would go off the rails. he is also really opinionated, which is fine because he's a sports radio host and that's what they need to do. people not liking schopp doesn't mean he's bad at his job, it just means they don't like him and and probably don't agree with him too, and both of those things may or may not be together. he does cross the line more than he should though, but to be fair, some real idiots call that show and his short fuse is usually when people come in looking for a fight or say something unbelievably stupid.

wow, considering the injuries on both sides, looks like it's gonna be about 60% AHL rosters taking the ice tonight.

his whole schtick is annoying. He wants people to feed his show with their opinions, but the underlying premise is ALWAYS to push his viewpoint and agenda. Bulldog is the poor tool to have to take the opposing viewpoint to make it seem like there is something to debate.

Top half. So we need a top half goalie. Not top 10. Both were not considered anything special before their stanley cup years
