not in the playoffs - Cheeseballin
Thomas claimed the job before the playoffs that year. But that wasn't the case the year before, and Boston was using both plenty during the year in 2011.
Why I said you could argue, as opposed to Carolina, where that was clearly the case they were rolling two.
Finally, the year the Hawks won the cup, Niemi made fewer than 40 starts. |

I know you like Myers, and I do too, but Tyler's puck handling at the line helped the offsides there. He was not taking a straight line. Looked awkward... |

The sabres are awful to watch,I have turned them off. They are officially where I am with the bills. I hope they keep losing and terry pegula gets out of his comatose state. I WANT THE LOCKOUT |

sure im sure there are a few exceptions to the rule but his whole point was that if you have a goalie you play him like a #1 and 9 times out of 10 thats how a team is built to win the cup. |

Playoffs. Thank you - Cheeseballin
Point is, going into the season (when personnel decisions are typically made) it was an open debate who was the starter. Hard to argue in that case they were going with a goal-first model. Are you just trying to define down the argument to the point you feel right? |

Thomas was hurt.
Laviolette is unconventional with his goalie usage.
Niemi is probably the best example. |

you want to put Enroth in for 40 games a year, really? are you kidding. - SABRES 89
Why would he not we would have the #1 overall pick. Enroth is about to be 0-13 in the last 13 games after today. Who starts a goalie who has not won a game in 12 games prior to this ohhh yea lindy im still game planning from 1998 ruff |

agreed
regier really did do a crappy job after letting briere and drury walk and in my opinion tried to sell the fans a bill of goods that the team was going to be better in a few years
then the players he added did not really improve the teams weakness, up to the coho trade
side note aside from vanek this year and pommer the last year plus, how many sabres play at the same level as they did before they got paid? |

Thomas arguable.
For whatever reason, there was no clear cut #1 in Carolina.
Niemi also sucks. |

well he just said name the last time its happened. and since the lockout its really happened more often than not for the regular season at least.
rask played 30 games for boston
cristobal huet played 48 games for chicago
hasek/osgood virtually split games
bryzgalov played 28 games for anaheim
gerber played 60 games for carolina then split with ward in the playoffs |

Name the last time a team had this system and won a cup. you need a true number 1 goalie to get you through the playoffs nowadays. - Cheeseballin
name the number of goalies since the lock out that has played 60 games in the regular season and played in the finals?
I triple dog dare you to look it up |

@TBNbucky
The guy? Figured it was entire section. RT @digitalkid2112: @TBNbucky just like the guy in 317 that shouts "fire regier" every game
Bucky and I lived in the same neighborhood and played little league together. Maybe something in the water that causes us to see that the main reason this team sucks is mainly due to how Darcy works. |

Just saying having your 2 goalies play 60%/40% does not work in the playoffs. |

Carolina didn't have a clear cut #1 because Laviolette is a disaster when it comes to making up his mind about a goalie. Just look at the year Philly made it to the finals. |
