These guys are employees of Entercom. He doesn't just get paid for being a talkshow host. He also has to do advertisements, attend events, etc. Much of it is essentially a marketing job.

I have yet to find a talkshow host anywhere that the general public just absolutely loves. The majority of their audiences are people who listen just so they can get mad at the guy.

The majority of the job is the talk show host. That is the money maker, the main draw. However, they do other things as well. I golfed at the WGR tournament for 3 years, usually with the program director. It was actually kind of interesting what the behind the scenes stuff entailed.
