It can be done in 3-4 years time. We already have a lot of good young prospects. Getting a top 5 pick this year could really make a difference for next season. Obviously the sabres will have to dabble in the free agency as well or make a trade or two.

This team is a mess but I think we are 1-2 years and a big move away from being a contender again.

We have many players who are similar, small, soft, others unskilled and one line with one player, Vanek, who until the last two weeks wasn't even considered in the top 50 players in the league. Without him Pominville would be a 2nd line winger on most contending teams and Hodgson would be tweener between a 2nd/3rd line center right now

Our D pretty much sucks with Tyler Myers the team's prominent defenceman who has been God awful. Ehrhoff is a top 3/4 dman as is Sekera. After that the rest are average.

Our goalie is a mid range goalie who, when with a better team, would be better. This team, as it is built now, kind of sucks.

Any word on where our illustrious scouts are? Did Uncle Terry at least spring for new flesh and blood scouts or are we still using the VHS-powered Talent Tron 1000?

The Florida panthers would be a step up right now. I laughed at their willy jolly signings two summers ago, as it seemed like they were just signing anyone with bad cap numbers just to get to the floor. I must say that they have surprised me with the results.
