Typical response by flames fans that are happy to look at one win... whether its against Edmonton a week or so back or a potential win this coming Sat. Calgary is a team that has had no plan for years. They measure success based on simply getting into the playoffs. As the years pass, getting into the playoffs has got harder and harder. Their fans are happy to win one game against the Oilers or one game against the Canucks. Say what you want about the Oilers, and Ottawa... at least they had a plan and based on today it has worked better that the Flames organization

You actually thinking the Oilers had a plan shows how stupid you really are.

I think the Flyers track record speaks for itself, they will do what it take to win. I think Iginla would see that offense has been the issue, and he can make a difference. Plus I'm sure he know the Flyers will likely give him a good contract next year instead of being a 1 year rental for some playoff team. Let not forget you will also have to find a team with the cap space to take him.
- youarewrong

Cap space won't be a problem this year for most teams. Even the Bruins could have enough space at the deadline to take his cap hit, Chiarelli said himself they could add near 10mil at the deadline.

I agree, the Flyers level of play over the years can't be disputed. Maybe Iginla says to himself "I'm the missing piece for this team".

Not making the playoffs for 6 years while finishing at the bottom of the league for 3 years was the plan.

Most of you idiots thought the Oilers were a playoff team last year and now you think you are cup contenders when really, you are the NY Islanders west.

I am very comfortable where we sit today. I will take not making the playoffs for 6 years to get to the team we have today Vs Calgary making the playoffs, losing in the first round every year with the team you have today. Any of you going to provide Calgary's master plan?

Your years of no playoffs and bottom 10 in the league are just starting. Just to bad that your ownership group doesn't get it yet.... Fire a few more coaches...it must be their fault. Players are not the problem....

Flames are my LEAST favourite team, but they've got some good guys on this site. That said, the Flames haven’t made the playoffs since 2009 and have failed to win a post-season series since their run to the Cup final in 2004. That's almost ten years!

Reminds me of the Canucks from 82 through to 92.

Philadelphia's need is for good puck-moving defensemen. they're not scoring because the defense is too busy turning the puck over, so their forwards have to skate 200 feet all the time and get gassed by the time they get into the offensive zone. Although he got way too much, and I likened him to a turnstile, Matt Carle was a big boost tot he forwards.
Basically, while Iginla would help, the Flyers should look to add a puck-mover before a right-wing whose next contract will be an over-35 contract.

- jmatchett

As previously mentioned...a blockbuster deal of Iginla + Jbo to the Flyers would be interesting. Thing is, how much are the Flyers willing to pay to not fail come the playoffs once again?

And again guys, this is all speculation and chatter...it is not to say that the Flames are interested in moving these guys right now, nor is it to say they are giving up on the team.

If the Flyers are willing to pay a nice price for these guys, with players who can have an immediate impact for the Flames, there is really no reason they should decline...though.

I never hated the Leafs, couldn't stand Brian Burke though!

There's a lot of history between the Flames and Canucks...Leafs...not so much.

I guess the Oilers President wasn't in on "the Plan."

Good comment, Flames have fired 3 coaches since the '05 lockout and the Oilers have fired how many?

i could see arguments for the Flyers doing EITHER an Iginla or Bouwmeester trade...but both is pretty ridiculous

I wouldnt say ridiculous...I think the fair price for Iginla isnt as high as most people seem to think, and Jbo has a larger salary...so I could actually see the Flyers being able to work out a deal for both if they really thought it would increase their playoff strength/chances.

Thing is...Calgary just wants to remain competitive while also retooling their team. They dont want to drop dead in order to bring in pieces(a la Edmonton), but moving two valuable assets which in turn bring in other valuable assets down the roa is something Feaster would certainly entertain. He wont sell off his better players for picks or what have you, but he will move them for younger players/prospects who are NHL ready and could help maintain a certain level of competitiveness.
