With Philly having defensive woes as well, they could pull off a massive trade and get both Iggy and J-Bo.

Calgary would have to take salary back, but could get an impressive list of assets for those two guys....

unfortunately, no one gets paid enough on the flyers to send the salary back!

unless you wanted both timmonen and briere

So what you're saying, essentially, is that it's just about too late for the Flyers and because they sit 3-6 so far that Iginla would ex-nay a move to the city of brotherly love?
- Colin Dambrauskas

Yes. To uproot his family to the east and play in a completely different conference I'd imagine he'd want to go to a team that is almost guaranteed a playoff spot.

Doubt Iggy would uproot his family if a trade would happen now. He can afford to commute back & forth & from what I hear, he didnt enjoy the lockout. I'm sure he would wait until he decided where ever he plans to sign his next multi year contract this summer.

Please don't over value a guy in the last year of his contract. There is no way Philly would move Schenn or Couturier. They may be willing to move Laughton. He was very impressive in his 5 game try-out, but with Schenn, Giroux, and Couturier he is expendable.

Flyers can afford to send Laughton, Ty McGinn, and a 2014 conditional pick. 1st if he signs, 3rd if he doesnt. Or something similiar.

I can guarentee it wont be Schenn or Couturier, and can almost guarentee it wont be Simmonds, Read, or Voracek. Of course Giroux isn't even an option.

Moving Iggy would be the first step in rebuilding the team that is so badly in need of it. The patch work thing won't work.

Congrats Colin. Mention iggy and a potential trade and you start to get hits. Now cue the Flames fans with the inflated value of what iggy will bring. Max 42 games that he could play and the very strong possibility that he resigns with Calgary this summer. Calgary should have pulled the trigger last year. His trade value continues to go down the more games he plays and loses with Calgary

With but 9 games in...I think the Flyers still have plenty of time.
- Colin Dambrauskas

They have more time than I gave them credit for, but I wouldn't say plenty. Game 12 is a 1/4 of the way through the season. IMO I just don't think Iginla would actually leave the Flames after all this time to take a flier on a good team that is having a tough start and has some key injuries, simply because the season is so short. If I were Iginla, I would look at who is playing well right now instead of who might be there in a few weeks.

At the same time, if one assumed this rumor was true then the Flyers themselves believe they are running out of time and need to make a move so they have a better chance.

As long as you get a good return. You could trade Joe Thornton for garbage and he could win the Heart trophy later in the season, and then you end up rebuilding a rebuild.......

I think the Flyers track record speaks for itself, they will do what it take to win. I think Iginla would see that offense has been the issue, and he can make a difference. Plus I'm sure he know the Flyers will likely give him a good contract next year instead of being a 1 year rental for some playoff team. Let not forget you will also have to find a team with the cap space to take him.

Yes I do, it was a great game, except for the power outage thing. Killed all the Ravens momentum! Entertaining finish for sure.

Philadelphia's need is for good puck-moving defensemen. they're not scoring because the defense is too busy turning the puck over, so their forwards have to skate 200 feet all the time and get gassed by the time they get into the offensive zone. Although he got way too much, and I likened him to a turnstile, Matt Carle was a big boost tot he forwards.
Basically, while Iginla would help, the Flyers should look to add a puck-mover before a right-wing whose next contract will be an over-35 contract.

Typical response by flames fans that are happy to look at one win... whether its against Edmonton a week or so back or a potential win this coming Sat. Calgary is a team that has had no plan for years. They measure success based on simply getting into the playoffs. As the years pass, getting into the playoffs has got harder and harder. Their fans are happy to win one game against the Oilers or one game against the Canucks. Say what you want about the Oilers, and Ottawa... at least they had a plan and based on today it has worked better that the Flames organization
