the goal should have counted.

Yo big_d

you ever use the FN-FAL in BO2? If so, level it up until you get select fire and use it full auto. Best gun in the game

Neither Kessel or Phaneuf are the future of this team.

Trade them at the deadline.

That is all.

Bozak is killing Kessel for two reasons:

- he simply can't keep up with Kessel. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Kessel right now - as I have stated many times before, he is top 3 in the league in taking the puck in the neutral zone and making things happen. The problem is he's creating 20 one-on-three rushes a game. Defencemen and goalies know they only have to play Kessel.

- When Bozak does get a pass from Kessel, he does nothing with it. Once again, goalies don't have to worry about the pass.

This is nothing personal against Bozak - he is being asked to play a role he simple doesn't have the skill for.

But it's time they got Kessel help. Grabbo or Kadri would be much better at this point. Hell, McClemment would be better at this point.

- Atomic Wedgie
I agree with most of this.

Id just like to add Kessel is still getting his 2+ good scoring chances a game, the guy just doesn't know how to finish.

and kessel doing his best jason blake impersonation by skating in circles around the perimeter and never driving the net has nothing to do with it?

same thing last year.. when he struggled he stayed to the outside.. when he is scoring he is taking the hit and driving to the front of the net.

- Dozzer

I'm starting to think that a lot of people around here either never saw Jason Blake play or have very spotty memories of him.

At no point in his time here would I have ever compared his play to what Kessel is currently doing.

Yes and the fan base who's a touch unhinged.
Anyway go on and name one big name free agent that has signed in Toronto.

well that should stop now

fact was burke wasnt open to offering the kind of contracts the other teams were which put the leafs out of the running.

had nothing to do with the market.

No, but blaming him for Kessel not scoring, is like blaming Kostka for Phaneuf sucking.
- Leafland

There is a certain amount of truth in Phaneuf sucking due to Kotska. For one, Phaneuf has to play the opposite side to accomodate the AHL'er.

Let me stop you there... Kessel isn't scoring for a reason. Most of his shots are wide, hit the post, or are a little weak. He's not going to the dirty areas or battling hard for the puck and this is mostly because he doesn't have the size. Stop making excuses for him. He's an NHL hockey player. He gets paid to put the puck in the net and he's not doing it. He's always been a streaky player and there's no place for a guy like that anymore, especially if he's your most offensive player.

Kostka isn't playing nearly as bad at Dion, and has managed to contribute to the scoreboard 4 times (should have been 5 last night). Dion needs to be held responsible for his own play.

On the flip side Kotska has had to bail Phaneuf a number of times.

Not one of those players was interested in Toronto regardless if Burke offered more years... If it helps you sleep believe it.
- tmlfan17

How the F do u know that??...Burke didn't make a legit offer for any of them...

U can keep living in the dream that blame for failure lays on the fans and media and has nothing to do with failure from management and the players...

U sir are a prime example of whats wrong with TO....Deflect blame and never hold MLSE/leafs accountable...

blake: perimeter shooter who fires wrist shots by the thousands

kessel: perimeter shooter who fires wrist shots by the thousands

both weak along the boards, both not the best forward in the world when it comes to defense, neither seem to be the guy who can do it on his own.

i am willing to be open minded about this but where are the differences? not including age.

What??...Bozak's Skate knocked it in ..The skate was moving forward...

It's pretty clear on the re-play..

- Fruitcakenipple

it hit both of bozaks skates

it hit the front skate first

if your telling me he meant to hit it off his front skate then off his back skate a milisecond later, then you my friend are living in fantasty land.

not to mention eric staal was backchecking bozak so he was stopping in the crease

but nono he kicked that 75 mph shot from his front skate to his back - hes premier league soccer player..

very true....

he did it a few times last night, so annoying to watch!

- big_dion

the big circle is what i like to call it

circle the offensive zone til there is a clear opening

problem is, this is the NHL.. there is rarely such a thing as a clear opening.

Are you really comparing Kessel to Blake? Not just this year, but in general? Really?

Blake never had Kessels explosiveness, but the comparison is still slightly legit.

Kessel has a much better wrist shot.

Kessel doesn't want contact, but he isn't terrified by it.

Kessel isn't the most hated man in his own dressing room.

Kessel makes nice passes (Blake never made a single pass his entire life)

Kessel has skin pigment.

when he is slumping yes.. very much blake-like

i have still to hear an actual argument to the contrary

i will give you this, kessel is more talented but that being said, their games are very similar
