Any reason why Blacker isn't up over Holzer, Kostka, or Fraser? Is he worse than them, I don't see how he could be...

He's not that great a prospect...Not better than them....

well you were right

he isnt driving the net the way he has to... and everytime the defense tightens up on him he passes

he isnt going to score like that with friggin gretzky in his prime as his centre

- Dozzer

Not to be too much of an apologist, but since when is kessel someone that drives the puck to the net?

His game (the same game that had him 6th in scoring last year) is speed on the outside, shots from the slot, and tap ins in front of the net.

Well over half of his shots are from 15 to 31+ feet from the net.

And his shots are so damn predictable. No slapshots, no dekes, nothing remotely different. Just the same idiotic shot selection every time.

There were at least three times where he got past a defender and then decided it was a great idea to stop and hope the guy who was chasing him didn't stop too. Just really dumb decisions.

It's to one dimensional, and predictable.

Don't think every opposing team doesn't have that on top of their scouting report.

It may have worked on the past.. Time to switch it up.

when kessel is scoring he takes the puck to the middle of the ice in front of the net.. takes the bit of physical play from the d-man but ultimately his speed carries him through

he is playing the exact same game when he has difficulty scoring.. staying to the outside

did you see him on the PP? i swear i saw him circle the zone without passing or shooting the puck at least 3 or 4 times tonight

brutal.. take it to the net

Kostka needs way fewer minutes but now that Gunnarsson is injured, that's not going to happen for awhile.

He also needs to be taken off the PP. Does not belong there. At all.

- Two_For_Truth

I don't mind him getting a look on the second unit, but he does absolutely nothing with Phaneuf and the first PP unit. I'm not even sure Gardiner would work there. I have no idea who to use on the points for the PP. Franson?

IMO Kessel needs a powerforward on his line to make him some room, one who is a threat to score...

carlyle needs to sit him down with two tapes

one with what he is doing now

one with what he does when he is scoring

show him the obvious difference

Considering the way Carlyle is handling Frattin and Kadri, he wants nothing to do with young, inexperienced players, especially on defense.

I agree that it's one dimensional and predictable as (frank)...the question is, does Kessel have the make up to change his game in such a way to start scoring more goals.

I personally don't think so. I think he needs Lupul more than anyone wanted to admit...he opened up space for him that he hasn't had with JVR as his linemate (and that's not taking anything away from JVR, I think he's played great).
