If they lose playing the younger players and competing, fine, there is a difference rather than wanting to sell off players to intentionally do it. - LeafMan
Exactly.
That said, if you're out at the deadline...well...thats a different story now. |

I am not rooting for them to lose, as my wife can attest... I just see them finishing just out again this year. The good draft is a bonus. |

lol.
whether they're struggling as a group or not, reading what Flyers fans have to say here and on HFboards, they're pretty happy with him and the trade in general.
I'm liking JVR in the 4 games he's played this season. - Feeling Glucky?
lol thing is about being the guy parked in front of the net
if the rest of your line and D dont get the puck on net.. then you are pretty much useless.
the leafs start hitting the net more from the point you'll see alot more of JVR

That song by Tom Cochrane, "Big Leagues", took on a whole new meaning with the birth of my son just over a year ago. I bet all dads feel the same way |

I read the comment, knew it was an attempt at a joke, didn't bother laughing.
It's like a fart joke. After years and years of Semin being in the league, it really isn't funny anymore, to anyone over the age of 15. - prock

Seems to me, he's only visible when the Leafs are winning. And last game, Phaneuf was actually getting his shots through, because he switched over to wristers. Didn't see a thing from JVR. |

The Leafs have a few games in a row against some pretty crap teams, or some teams playing like crap. The next 4 or 5 games could say a lot about where they land. Carolina, Winnipeg, Philly, Washington, all teams in the basement. Philly is a pretty good team, just not playing well. The rest aren’t very good. Montreal is a crap team, playing well. The Leafs could conceivably win every game. They probably won’t, but it’s a string of very winnable games.
If they can come out of those 5 games with 7 or 8 points, they put themselves in pretty good shape. If they don’t, they’ve wasted an easy stretch of games, and they might as well start looking at trades.

Dont get bent over it.
They really havent finished just out of the playoffs, or 9th the past 10 years. They've been drafting high, and Burke fumbled the Kessel trade, but its just pointing out the truth. |

Schenn's gonna knock Kessel out of the lineup for the remainder of the season. He will finish with 0 goals on the year. |

look at it this way
right now the core guys are struggling and the leafs are still in 8th
what happens if kessel and phaneuf get going? and lupul returns (if he can catch up)
there are just as many reasons to think the leafs could start to get better as there are to think they will get worse.
and yes, i understand the apprehension in feeling good about this season.. but at the same time.. always look for the positives and only deal with the negatives as they come.
if you expect negatives.. then its like you are cheering while looking over your shoulder.. hard to truly enjoy success while doing that. |

he's new to the spot on the ice.. he was simply out matched vs boston..
and i would disagree on getting shots through.. they only had 21 on net.. not alot of oppurtunity for a net presence to bang in rebounds |
