Oh ya well Mario Lemieux was better than all three of them combined. Who looks foolish now?

I'm not sure who that is ... But if I've never heard of him I'm sure he was a bust

How about this?

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is better than either of them so everybody looks foolish!

Apparently all that doesn't matter because the President must know something we don't.
- 1979AD

Brayden Schenn is a very good young player. He's scored at every level he's played at. Good size, hits, one hell of a goal scorer, smart player. He'll easily be a top 6 player in the NHL, no problem. Likely first line player.

He DID get some overhype at one point, due to the WJC, but make no mistake, he's a very solid player. Probably a 60 point winger (if they keep him on wing), minimum.

He was the best player at the WJC that year. That's pretty good justification to call him the #1 prospect.

That's not over-hype - he was the best player in a tournament with the best players his age in the world.

The problem with that WJC is that he got what? 11 points against Norway the combined two times they played. That's one of the reasons I liked this year, they had to play the US, Russia and Slovakia with only Germany being the stat padder.

Brayden Schenn is going to be just fine. He's scored at every level he's played at. He also had 9pts in 11 playoff games last year, at the age of 20. To write him off already would be extremely short-sighted. LA would have been dumb not to take him 5th overall especially coming off the WJC that he had.

Tremendously poor judge of talent because I said Lombardi has the potential to be the bounceback player for the Leafs, considering his poor season after recovering from injury and his previous seasons where he showed capable of contributing. He got traded, alright, do I still believe he can bounceback from last season, yeah I do.

- ThePresident

I believe you mentioned something about being the best centre the Leafs have this season if he "bounces back".

Frattin, has surprised me, but do I think he's that great, no. Obviuosly you do, and you overrate him. My statement was, I heard rumors that the Kings wanted Frattin for Bernier straight up, I stated I'd do it in a heartbeat. I believe Bernier has more potential than Frattin. The jury is still out, but in my opinion, nobody would be mentioning Frattin if he were on the Islanders as a player to look out for. I still think he's expendable, yes he's playing good, but I see him being at most a 40 point player. Replacable.

- ThePresident

No, I don't overrate him at all. That's a nice defense mechanism though, in trying to back pedal on the stupid comments you made before.

Just face it, everyone else saw that the kid has grit, an NHL shot, goes to the net, and has the talent to be a top 6 in the NHL. No one said he'd be a superstar, that's just you being an idiot, and putting words in people's mouths.

It does put a smile on my face to see you do that though. Everyone here can see through your little display here.

This is just as valid to me as what The President is saying. Stating opinion as fact. From what I've seen (limited to WJC and 2-3 NHL games), he's going to develop into a rugged top 6 forward. I'm sure PHI hasn't given up on him yet. Wouldn't it be fun if The President was an actual NHL GM (I wonder if JFJ felt Raask was an'overhyped' bust).

Yeah, that's the problem with the WJCs. The huge disparity in talent between teams means occasionally a player will put up some ridiculous amount of points in one game, and it skews things. Didn't he score 5 goals in one game against Norway or Denmark, or whatever it was?

He could potentially put up close to 50 points this year. That would do a better job of it.

Wasn't it 7th overall and Kaberle for Kessel
- AdamFrench

I seem to recall us trying to move up the year we drafted Kadri... I could've sworn Kaberle was involved in that.

Although, I think Kessel for Kaberle + 7th overall was tossed around.

I love how people assume that's what I think the order is going to be. Looking at that group, I don't give a (frank) what the order is!

I actually have a bet going where I win $20 if Buehrle is anywhere but #2.

According to Burke he was going to trade up to draft Tavares, but the asking price was Schenn, so not having any other players scouted decided to take whoever Bryan Murray said OTT was going to take instead.
