Something tells me it won't happen that way, either next season or the season after, he will be wearing a Leaf jersey, imo.
- LeafMan

fair enough, but who do you move out to make room?

its gotta be one of liles or gardiner.. unless nonis says bye bye to captain phaneuf

i dont get the hate for liles... everyone is hating on him and he's tallying points at a 0.5PPG clip

welcome to toronto.. sign a good contract and if you arent an allstar you're a bum

- Dozzer

I dislike the turnovers and being out of position. Mostly because that is in general the definition of the defense these past years.

Palushaj?
worth a waiver pick up?

- Barx

Watch the Isles pick him up and he scores 20.

I'd actually rather they sign Paul Ranger for the third pairing. Assuming Paul Ranger wants to sign with the Leafs, instead of staying with the Marlies.
- prock

Ranger would be nice, but I don't think he's an option.

If he is, he could even find his way up beside Phaneuf.

I still think he needs another year. He'll likely be in that poopty needs AHL time but too good for junior poop that Niederrater and others go through.
- AdamFrench

Only time will tell. It will come down to his training camp. He may not give us the choice. I personally think we got the best d-man in the draft. Most upside anyway

We need a #1 centre.

And no to Iggy. I love the man, but he is so done it frightens me.

Seriously - the guy is done.

- Atomic Wedgie

SJose and Colorado both look like they "may" need to move a centre in the next little while. Might have to move some talent from the wing/defence to get that centre ...then use F.A. to strengthen elsewhere because top line centre's just never hit the market.

I don't know, I like Liles, just wish he was put on the first PP unit until Gardiner comes back.

I'm basing Rielly making it on a gut feeling, nothing more.

watched that calgary/chicago game on saturday....iginla is a solid spare part, similar to morrow in dallas, but certainly not what he used to be.

yeah, one per game on average this year

but he also has 2 takeaways.. and 13 blocked shots.. which in fairness to liles, balances things out

Is anyone else's page getting screwed up? Is it French's location? Too long? What's going on?

Gunnarsson is a safe defender who can play big minutes and chip in offensively. He's definitely a top-4 dman, he's shown he can cover for any mistakes Phaneuf makes(which is why he'd been his most steady partner)... Until we have a better defense-first option for Phaneuf, he's the guy.

Gardiner is not an option yet, as he's very prone to mistakes, and Rielly's inexperience would probably mean the same thing. It'd be nice to still have one of Aulie or Schenn, but alas, we do not.

- Feeling Glucky?

(frank) off with that poop

We so badly need an upgrade at the 1C. Bozak can't not cut it. He is a 3C at best. With no true 1C and Lupul, Kessel just doesn't have any support. JVR, is going to park himself in front of the net, and thats great, but that still leaves Kessel with too much to do himself. Bozak aside from faceoffs is just not contributing at all. I'd like to try Kadri up there, but his faceoff presence is just horrendous.
- faceto27

I said a few times, Bozak is 1st line centre out of necessity, I still believe he is a solid 3rd line centre that can fill in top 2C when needed.

doubt the leafs buy him out

i think it was wedgie who pointed out that the last time teams could use a capless buyout not one player with more than a year remaining was bought out

Take a look at Stephen Weiss?
- t_leafs21

He will probably be the only top center to make it to July 1st.

I'm pretty happy with JVR over Schenn right now.

As in, not even remotely close.

There won't be many great options.

Other than Getzlaf and Ribiero, there really isn't anyone great heading towards UFA status. Derek Roy? After than, it's Connolly, Lombardi and Antropov as your best bets.

Yuck.

- Atomic Wedgie

For a young team, Ribiero and his personality shouldn't be an option.

Also, Bozak's going to be back. No question about it IMO.

Not saying he should/shouldn't be back... but he will be.

One would have to think that Liles would have some value if the leafs where looking to move him??..
