I have a crazy idea...
Put some defensemen in front of Miller that actually play DEFENSE, I'll bet he look A LOT better...
Dare i say... Even "Vezina-like"

- jdfitz77

Same excuse every year since hes been here. When does Miller get the blame for anything ?

I think Vanek had 3 better plays himself vs Boston.
- Homer

I was in a crowded bar watching that game

Was the Pommer pass yesterday the play of the season for the sabres so far?
- homiedclown

It was pretty sick. That line has produced a bunch of highlight reel goals though.

Here's an article from the fourth period:

http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/buf130204.html

Says Darcy's looking for a gritty, defensive-minded forward, who can play on the club's second or third line, and a shutdown defenseman. Also, states there were scouts from 18 different teams at yesterday's game.

- adambuffalo

I thought 'press row' looked strangely full yesterday up there.

I said this while at the game yesterday as well when I noticed Vanek on the ice PKing at the end of the game when there still was going to be 40 seconds on the clock after we killed the penalty off.
By the time Vanek got off the ice there was only 50 seconds left in the game and there was no way he was going to have anything left in the tank for the chance of tieing the game in the final even strength pull the goalie 40 seconds.
Coaching decisions like those irk me.

He is our best PKer. We could not afford to have another goal against us and he was our best shot at getting a quick little shortie...

EDIT: Hubie I hope you see this... Point proven.

What did Ennis say that has everyone up in arms?
- BuffaJoe

Maybe he told them that we suck and are boring to watch beyond the first line.

how about telling us a better play?
- homiedclown

Vanek's third goal against Boston, Vanek's pass to Ennis and I also like Vanek banking the puck off the boards to himself that putting a slap pass right on Hodgson's tape more than Pommers pass.

That being said I Pommers pass was very heads up and "nifty" if you will.

I think Hodgson is a big reason why Vanek looks the way he does this year. He even looked better at the end of the year when Hodgson was his center, even though Hodgson wasn't having the easiest time. Now that he understands the system better and is more comfortable, he looks even better and that's made Vanek's game elevate even more.
- HonkFortheGoose

I don't know if it is Hodgson, I think it has more to do with anyone there other than Roy...

Kaleta and Pommer are better PKers than Vanek.

Have u noticed what a "playmaker" Vanek has become this year as well?
He has made some "Sedin-like" passes
I'm extremely impressed
He really has become a "complete" and "dominant" player

Between how Pommer stepped up as Captain last year (which I was kinda nervous about, I'll admit),
And Vanek this year...
I think those two have become the perfect duo to lead all these young guys we have coming up
They BOTH better get re-signed
This down will riot if we have another "Briere/Drury" episode w them

I would have rather had him on the ice for the final 40 seconds after we killed the penalty with something left in the tank to try and tie it. But thats just me.

Hodgson is a more talented player than Derek Roy is. And I honestly don't think Roy is a bad player, but we needed a change around here, so I have no problem with the trade at all.

I feel like Vanek is starting to show his true colors now that Roy is gone.

Hodgson has helped elevate Vaneks game to a new level.

Terry better find a way to get Vanek locked up over the summer, I bet Vanek is looking to test those FA waters, esp if Ruff is still coach.

That's debatable. Roy is extremely talented, Hodgson has better hands but Roy could skate circles around him

Well... what they saw probably only hurt their trade value.
