Lindy Ruff held an optional skate this morning at First Niagara Center before the team jets off to Kanata.

Afterwards, the coach talked about the injured Sabres.

Pominville, Hodgson, Ott, Hecht, and Ehrhoff didn’t skate. Lindy Ruff said that two of the five Sabres are “doubtful” for Tuesday night’s game in Ottawa. Ruff would not divulge the two players. We’ll have to see which Sabres skip the game day skate tomorrow in Kanata.

maybe he knew that and knew it was a buyout possibility and decided to no longer play with the injury and instead have surgery.

I'll ding Ruff for his use of personnel. Sytems, etc... I think we're ok. But he uses his backups poorly, and clearly favors the lunchbox types on this team more than is reasonable. For all the handholding they've done in the past 15 years, he seems out of sync with his GM in using the personnel that is brought in.

Of course, personnel is kind of a big part of the job.

And I actually really like Lindy.

Opposite. According to Panaccio right at the start of the season, it's the opposite hip from last time and supposedly Leino wishes he would have just had the surgery on both when he had it done. It was during the offseason he was a UFA and we signed him.

My guess would be Pommer isn't one of them. He's pretty much an iron man. I would think it's more of a maintenance day than anything for him.

Ehrhoff has been playing BIG minutes, so I would guess that he's in the same boat as Pommer.

So, I would think that limits it to Ott, Hodgson, and Hecht as possibilities for the 2 guys that are doubtful for tomorrow.

Whether or not he's on IR isn't the problem. It's whether or not he has an injury. Drury couldn't be bought out by the Rangers because of his knee issue. He just retired and they had to eat his entire cap hit.

Not bc I don't want him in the line-up, he's our beat defenseman, but bc I think if McNabb gets called up he won't get sent down & it'll force Darcy to make a move

I don't have a problem with Matt Ellis. I have a problem with the way the coach uses Matt Ellis. Like when there's 48 seconds left in a tied game and they're taking an offensive zone face off.
