It's the domino effect. Once you make a mistake it "SNOW" Balls! One mistake followed by another. PAP should have been signed long before his contract was up or allowed to entertain the UFA market. Plain and simple.

Seems it only takes 6 games to evaluate a Minor league "D" man and sign him to 3 yrs. But putting up 67 points and playing on the top line wasnt enough time to evaluate PAP's worth!

I don't think PA would have singlehandedly broken the Devils' D yesterday and in game 1...or ran over Boston's players on the road. I just don't see how he'd be the difference-maker in these games. Yes, he puts up points, but putting up points hasn't been the Isles' problem this season...for once. They're fifth in the league in goals for per game, even with being shutout yesterday. If PA really was 7 ft tall and like 260, then yeah, I'd say he'd make a world of difference with his size and physical play and maybe could have turned the tide in any one of those three games. But another smallish forward wouldn't have been the difference in those losses, just imo. I'll re-evaluate all that if the Isles get shutout again next game and can't find the back of the net for the next few games.

What's not to be obsessed with?

PAP's orgasm leaves an exit wound.

i dont think anyone is saying we would be undefeated if we had PAP, All I am saying is that we had a first line that was clicking on all cylinders, another season of them together would have been magical. The first line wasn't broke, yet we let someone walk & now it needs fixing. I understand that down the line PAP was not the long term fixture for that line, We all want Nino, Bailey or maybe one of the Kirills to step into that role. But none of that was going to happen this year (maybe Bailey... MAYBE) & the chances of it happening next year aren't set in stone either. PAP could have been kept & traded later down the line... Again even if we didnt want to give him the money or the years, he should have been sent packing for something, if there is one thing i am REALLY critical of Snow about is his lack of turning assets into assets. If you have no plans for a guy trade him.. i dont care if its for the last spot in the draft, at least you got a body that COULD be something or another draft pick that could be thrown into a bigger deal. All Im sayin.

The first line is clicking fine now. Through eight games, our three current first-line players have a combined point total that is exactly equal to last year's first-line players through eight games.

Edit -- never mind, X...I see we're taking up this conversation in two separate threads.

And I agree entirely about not trading PA or re-signing him. Do something with your asset...either bring it back or turn it into something.

Maybe not to you but I find it annoying to go see the team I'm a fan of and being out numbered by the opposing teams fans. Hearing them cheering and rubbing it in the faces of the few Isles fans there. Been there done that too many times. The fact that the Isles facilitate it by offering game plans to Montreal fans every time they play at the Coli makes it that much worse. I get that it's a buisness and they need to make money but it doesn't make it anymore fun when you're actually there dealing with the ribbing, especially when they're getting their nuts kicked in most of the time

A friend of mine is going to a game this week - said he got 1st Row seats for $60 ea. Either season ticket holders bailed when Barclays was announced or some peeps are giving away seats on Stubhub WAYYYY under cost.

Yeah, it's not Parenteau they need....I mean, Snow should have moved him for something they DO need at the deadline last year- that's my one criticism of him as GM, not seeing these guys coming down the pipe and realizing that he has an asset he can turn into something he ha a shortage of before it's too late. I could see that criticism- but whining that he's not here now....I just don't see him as any better than what we have on the offensive side of the ledger, to be honest. Our problem is defense, especially late in the game. Hamonic shouldn't have to play half the game every night, just because the other guys suck.

WOW! UIF. Sounds like you really have it in for PAP. I'll respond to your reply and then we can move on. We've both made our points and right now this is all hypothetical anyway.

NO one is saying he's Sidney Crosby.

All I'm saying is he proved to be a pretty good player for us. He played well with MM and JT.

He played well on the 2nd line to.

If he was still with us, we would have a solid 1st line.

Instead we have 2/3's of a 1st line with no one to make up those 67 points.

So by letting PAP go. (FOR NOTHING)

We are left with one more need to be filled. In a short season like this. Every point in the standings is critical and every point on the ice can make a difference in the standings.

PAP scored his 7th goal last night. Without JT! So much for that theory that he's lost without JT. Could any of those goals made a difference in the games we've lost? I dont know. Maybe maybe not.

My point is the same now as it was last season. PAP is a better hockey player than most give him credit for.

He's better then KO, Josh Bailey, Boyes, and whoever else we plan on using next to JT. Losing him for nothing set us back just a little bit.

Lets hope we dont miss the PO's by a point or two Because I believe PAP will put up more points then KO JB or Boyes this season and one or two may be the difference in a loss or getting a point or two!

Don't have it in for him at all. I've said many, many times I believe he is a nice player who puts up points. I just don't believe he's the missing ingredient here. Team would have the same toughness and team D issues with or without PA in this lineup, even if its offense ranked fourth in the league with him instead of fifth without him. That's all I'm saying. I'm not kicking the guy on his way out the door. Good for him that he's having success. But I'm not sending him roses and chocolates begging for him to come back either.
