I was confused with all those conversations with TO fans they all seemed to think the Leafs were to good for Luongo.

He competes hard, and is a decent skater. He doesn't have any finish and isn't very creative, doesn't hit all that hard, and isn't much of a fighter. Once we get healthy, he is very expendable.
- golfingsince

I'm not saying he's not expendable, but there's no reason for the hate.

He's a 24 year old waiver pickup, who's making the league minimum, doesn't look out of place on a 4th line, and still has a lot of time to improve.

Certainly worth the contract spot he's taking up.

I don't have any hate for the guy, just don't think he does anything particularly well. Then again, come the playoffs I'd rather have him in the lineup than Raymond.

At this point , I think he is a better option than Higgins.

I respect Higgins for what he has done for the last two years but I think this is his last year here anyways so ,I think he can be part of a package deal.

I'd still rather have a 4th line like Chicago and Boston have had in the past, where it's more like a 3rd line that the coach can trust and actually be comfortable with in the playoffs. I don't trust Weise against any of the opposing team's top 3 lines. Getting back Booth and Kesler will definitely help with that, but adding just one more top 9 forward would be ideal.

Higgins >>>> Weise

Higgins works his ass off every game, he's great along the boards, solid defensively and can score 10+ goals in a bottom 6 role over a full season. He's far from untouchable obviously, but he's much better than Weise, no question.

I never said he was better . There is no question talent wise. It is the rolls that need to be filled .

I slot Higgins into the third line roll with Raymond Gaunce Jensen Lapierre Booth or Hansen.
3 slots 6 players

If Higgins want to be a 4 th liner and fight and bang then sure .

I would still take Higgins over Wiese in the 4th line, our 4th line is a huge liability in the playoffs and it's almost feels like a PK when they're out there, the team just wants to survive which tells you all you need to know about our 4th lines in the past. I have no problem with Lappy and one of Higgins/Hansen on our 4th line when Kesler and Booth are back, in fact I'd love it.

I think Schroeder keeps his job on the 3rd line, with Raymond and maybe Higgins. Weise goes back to the 4th line with Malhotra and Volpatti and Kesler plays with Burrows and Hansen.

They should always try to dress the best possible lineup, from the 1st to 4th lines, and should always try to improve the personnel.

I still think Weise is a player worth having in the system, and I have no problem with him on the 4th line, if there is nobody currently better suited.

I agree with your first point, I don't understand why people are so against having a guy like Hansen or Higgins on the 4th line, having depth like that is great and there not soft players or guys that struggle defenievely. Weise is a nice player to have for organizational depth, but I don't trust him come playoff time to take a regular shift especially on the road when the opposing coaches can take advantage of a weak 4th line by throwing out one of their top 2 lines against the likes of Volpatti and Weise.
