Not that it will happen but if somehow we did get Ovi we would have to legit 1st lines and after some tweaking our powerplay would be nearly unstoppable. - thundachunk

In our dreams!
I think the Caps would probably value Backstrom higher if OV wasn't such a brand name. |

Lu & Ballard for Green & Neuvirth.
Add a premier RH offensive d-man to the top unit. Imagine Edler & Green on the ice with Sedin Sedin Kassian/Burrows. Garrison falls back because he's terrible.
Edler Green
Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Tanev - DrChristianTroy
You're really ready to turn on him this early?
Not really surprised |

Yeah, I'd give him at least 20 games or so before even thinking about calling him a bad player/signing. I still think that he'll be better once he gets some chemistry with a D partner. Funny thing is that both he and Edler excelled the most when they were paired with a smooth skating offensive d-man(Campbell and Ehrhoff). |

It's really a shame about Cole. He was a great announcer, although a homer like everyone else. Every game they keep him on the air tarnishes his legacy. |

Agreed. They've both been suspect defensively, but Edler is also leading the team in scoring.
Garrison is adjusting to a new team. Edler is adjusting to playing his off side—some of those giveaways don't happen if he's on the left. |

They will be fine. Bieksa and Hamhuis seem to be finding their game. I don't expect the Edler and Garrison will be far behind |

He needs to play the body more. IF you are going to play the puck, making contact with it is essential. |

Think about it this way Washington has quite a few large contracts if they need a goalie at a decent price they may have to drop one of their larger contracts to get one. I truly don't see them getting rid of Backstrom. |

Lu is starting Monday. I don't really think he is part of any trade plans .
Gillis promised CS he would be #1. He just failed to mention what team it would be on |

There's no market for Luongo. I honestly thought the "deals" proposed in this thread by 'Nuck fans were pure sarascam/jokes. I really hope they were. - blahman20

IMO one small adjustment that I think Edler needs to make in the defensive zone, especially along the boards is to move the puck quickly. He usually just holds it and tries to wait out for forechecker to go off on a change and then he's fine but if the forecheker stays on him then he gets in trouble trying to be too patient and that leads to his giveaways.
Garrison just seemed a little nervous and lost for the first few games, once he adjusts and plays the same way he did in Florida he should be fine. |

McGuire and co. speculating on Gillis being at the Wash/Pitts game:
•Not likely a casual scouting trip
•Van has two good goalies in play, very complimentary of Luongo's recent play with no negative talk
•Suggesting Wash prospects are a possible option, with Orlov, Kuznetsov and Forsberg mentioned specifically
•Oates under pressure |
