1 down. I'll take Bobby Orr instead of Crossman. Otherwise, we're on the same page.

I think we've found our team. I was thinking of getting Jason Bowen and Darren Rumble in here for the defense, but I gladly defer to your roster improvements.

Before Calgary trades Iginla they would have to commit internally to a rebuild which, given their circumstance, is probably the correct decision.

If they made the decision to move Iginla they would shop him and get more value than your trade idea proposes.

Jarome Iginla is my all time favorite NHLer that never wore the Orange and Black.

That said, no way I trade Scott Laughton for him right now.

The Flyers have a need for a scoring line winger, for sure. But it's sure as Hell is not the lone need. They could use a good puck moving defenseman, as much as a scoring line winger.

So, a 35 year old, UFA to be for last year's top pick? Especially when Laughton showed he could be a pretty solid NHLer in the future during his 5 game "interview".

The last thing the Flyers should do is trade youth-or draft picks-for 35 year olds with months remaining on their contracts.

Now, if they can get a 25 year old, absolutely. The problem with this suggestion is, it's exactly the kind of counter productive move that Bob Clarke would have made.

I always liked Iginla, and have a lot of respect for the guy.. but if you think Iginla will be the problem solver for this team, Pinotch, you're wrong. 5 years ago, I would have given up Laughton, plus just about anything else Calgary would have asked for... Now, you want to give up youth, and a few picks for a 35 year old player, expecting him to be the piece they need to get to the cup, on a shortened season, and taking a huge cap hit at the same time. I just don't see that as the solution. This team needs sustained offense, no doubt... but making a hasty move out of emotion is not going to help, and will only leave you strapped when he retires or officially drops off the map. I'd sooner see them tank this entire season, get a top 3 draft pick, and rebuild and fully recover for next season, rather than "trying" to recover this season, which will probably be in vain anyway.

That being said, I still think it's too early to panic, or make any drastic moves. They're 3-6... how impossible is it to rip off 3 wins in a row, and get to .500? Heck, Chicago started out 6-0... the Flyers could theoretically do the same and get right back into this thing. I'm not saying they will, but it's possible... and if they play every game the way they played against the Rangers (#1), the Panthers, and Canes (minus the defensive turnovers), there is no reason they can't come back and get into the chase.

Tomorrow will be the key, to see if they can play with intensity and offensive threat two games in a row...

Flyers need to stop offloading picks and prospects. To land Iginla would cost a heck of alot and are you really willing to do that?

Panotch, you are the worst. Iginla is the wrong move for this team. They didn't have a camp, they have a lot of new parts, a bunch of injuries, and the people in place need to get used to playing with each other". What they need is time and not a problematic old dude who costs a lot? Stop mortgaging our future for little gain.

Meanwhile, do you even proofread anything you right? Your article closes with "Go or it!" I assume you meant "Go for it!"

You look at the roster, you think on paper, they shouldn't be bad. They should be in the play-offs. Watch them play collectively and you understand why they aren't. Calgary screams a rebuild. It has no farm system at all - little talent. It really doesn't have much young talent up in the league. It's mostly a collection of vets with a sprinkle of youngsters.

If they rebuild and they decide to trade assets that can fetch young players, prospect or picks, the rebuild wouldn't take a long unless Feaster keeps drafting third round talent in the first round. Iginla, Glencross, Stempy, JayBo, Kipper, Tanguay and Giordano could bring back quite a bit.
