i think its time to accept the fact that the swedish exchange program is a failure. tedneby is going to be a career minor leaguer, JJ hasn't shown anything, he is horrible on faceoffs and couldn't hit the net if it was a soccer goal, and now we come to adam larsson, time to stop drinking the kool-aid, the guy is a stiff, he is slow to the puck, soft on the boards, always gives up the puck when under pressure, can't really judge his shot since he always seems to hit the forward in front of him. everybody wants to trade a defenseman for a forward, the guy they should trade is larsson, see if you can find a sucker who is also drinking the kool-aid and move him quickly.

These guys are nowhere near their ceiling, yet. With Stevens behind the bench, Larsson will pick up many pointers along the way, and I don't mind if he makes the mistake here and there. If JJ starts to score, he's one of the best two way players in the game (problem is, he needs to actually score). Teddy is stagnant at this point, but not all hope is lost on him, yet.
Larsson is strong enough on the boards and will fill out, and he's still slick as hell when he has the puck. D-men usually only come into their game at 22 or 23 and you'll be hard pressed to find a single one out there who doesn't. Hamilton is an exception for now, but to me, Hamilton also didn't play that great for Canada at the World Juniors. Seth Jones and Jacob Trouba both outperformed him and on a worse team. And that might be a knock against guys like that because they can't perform in big game scenarios.
What Larsson does that's so damn good and will make him elite is his sight of the ice and his ability to make a play when you have no idea there's a play to be made. He thinks the game as fast as anyone in the league (including Crosby). Properly develop him, and he's the best defenseman in the league because what he has, few other d-men have. He'll make a slick play that even his own teammates won't expect, but they'll play along with it. A defensive game (where he struggles) can be taught, and will be taught, and Jersey is the best team in the league in terms of teaching defensive play. Most teams could only wish for a core that makes so few mistakes. I'm not worried at all. Larsson is playing for the right team.
So they lost 5-1, big deal. They're still trying to find their offensive game, and their defense let one go at the start of the season. Afternoon games can be tough as well.
Relax, last season started worse than this one did, and Jersey doesn't have any major injuries right now.
