If we were to trade Schneider to Columbus it'd have to be a major haul. Either all of their first round picks in this upcoming draft(3) or Johansen and two firsts(NYR,LAK)

Thats a bit Rich Man. One 1st. One good roster player. Mason.

Won't happen, Schneider is the guy going forward. Lu doesn't want to be here anymore, Gillis will find him a new home, probably in the off season.
- 1970vintage

Schneider will not play the season as a back up. If CS is the guy going forward then Canucks have the craziest way I have ever seen of showing their appreciation.

I think it came down to Lu couldn't get a decent return and MG went a different route

Rick Ball, sounds better than Most of the CBC broadcasters....

Is Bob Cole still doing games? Every player on the team that is not the Leafs is named "he". "he gets the puck and shoots it out and he gets the puck passing it back into him and then it gets shot out again."

Schneider has ZERO say in the matter. He just signed a three year contract. If he wants to be the #1 he has to play better. He's been competing for this job for three years, he knows what it takes and I'm confident that he will re-establish himself. I said before the season started that Lu would not be traded, and that the games would be 28/20 for Lu, nothing has happened to change my mind. To me, this does not say "starter/backup" and based on their play so far do you honestly think that Schneider should be playing more?

Hmmm it depends on the roster player. Schnedier has a lot more value than Lu though.

At least with Cherry it's only 7 or so minutes during the intermission, where you can actually just get up and get a beer, eat dinner or whatever.

I agree there is no way Lu is staying to much media attention the showcase is over monday he will be playing on a new team. O would I like to keep him though. Best Canuck goalie we have ever had. Its to bad we are a goalie circus. Even if we had him until the end of the season it would be great. He does have an excellent chance of winning a cup with us. Unfinished business Lu huh huh nudge nudge?

Luongo started to decline the last couple of years. We all saw it. He looks better and refreshed now, which is nice. But look at Schneiders age and talent. He's our guy. So I wouldn't get emotionally attached again. Schneider fits with our current core and with our future (Jensen, Kassian, Schroeder, Gaunce etc) We could rirsk it and trade Schneider and hope to god Lack develops into a star goalie. But I'd hate to see us fall back into a goalie graveyard, once Luongo is past his prime.

I have no doubt CS is and will be the better of the two. Gillis came out in a 1040 interview last week and said "Lu was not never our number 1, He asked to be moved ,I tried and we were not offered enough back ". This is on the posdcast of MGs last interview with the 1040 if you care to look.

We don't need outstanding goaltending - we need reliable goaltending. The team in front of either goalie has to be better, starting with our D.

We need to score more.

If we can improve D and get secondary scoring we will be a deep team.

In 2 more years Schneider may want 6 mil per year. Lu will give you 5.3 for the next 6-7 years with a reliable back up (Lack ) .

If Gillis gets his socks knocked off with a Schneider offer I'm all for it. It has to be a trade that solidifies our future. So we'll be a contending team every year for the next decade.

Vintage my friend ,do you think Schneider was the reason we lost against SJ?

2 Horrible give aways and a bad bounce . I thought he kept the score close. The game before he had a shutout. The first game he was very rusty.

Lu too is under contract and Gillis can tell him he's staying.

I think the past is over . Lu looks happy and CS will be dealt for a center.

So get rid of both our goalies Lu wants out I don't think getting rid of Schneider is gonna change his mind. Lack is no where near ready yet.

The atmosphere in the rink last night was MUCH better. Even though it was a 1 - 1 tie the crowd kept with it and didn't get distracted.

I wish the NHL would really try to promote these rivalries through better scheduling. It makes such a huge difference when you are at the game to have a crowd that is emotionally invested in that game.
By the time I got home I had lost my voice. The yelling combined with the smoking makes me sound like a frog this morning. Good time last night.

I am not sure Lu wants out anymore. He is a legend here now

He went viral last night on twitter . He is a media dream. Do you think he would get this much love in Fla?

I think Luongo just want's to be a number one and win a Stanley Cup. Of course he want's to go home to Florida but it's a business and he knows this. If Florida won't pay the piper then he's not going there. You think he;d rather go to Toronto than stay here? I think not. If Schneider were out of the picture I think he'd be glad to stay here. He signed a 12 year contract for a reason.

Yeah, I heard Gillis on the radio. I also said this before the season. At no time has anyone from the team ever said Schneider was the #1, that is completely media driven. I think the mantra from Gillis has been best player (chance to win) plays, at every position. Now, AV has his favourites and so sometimes that doesn't always play out how we the fans think it should, but that is how the team approaches it.

Luongo's media appearances have made it pretty clear, he wants to move on to a place where he can be "the guy", and that's not going to happen in Vancouver with Schneider here. Even if we moved Schneider, I think Luongo has already set his mind to moving. I think Lu should seriously think about Columbus, they have a solid young core of players coming up, are likely 4-5 years away from having any serious competition in goal, at which point he can become "mentor" again and ease gently into retirement in year 7/8. Columbus is a 2h 40 minute flight from Miami.

I didn't see the San Jose game, so I can't really comment on that, but what I have heard from Luongo leads me to believe that he has moved on, in his mind, and I don't see him staying beyond this season.

That tells me He's the guy. Would that happen in Fla with their two reporters at the rink?

did anyone else like Schroeders game as much as me last night? The kid has serious hockey sense and puck distribution skills.
