I'm getting kind of pissed with everyone trying to say that Carlyle is the reason that Kessel can't score. Carlyle allows scorers the chance to thrive in his system.
Ask Selanne, Perry, and Ryan. All three are snipers that have put up big numbers under Carlyle.
All that's really happening is that Phil came to camp a little out of shape (as usual) and can't keep up with the guys that are in shape. Add in the fact that Lupul is out due to injury, and the D playing him really tight, and he's in a slump.
Kessel went on 10, 12, 14 game scoring droughts with Wilson at the helm, and he had full reign and freedom for offense. Remember that year Bozak was -18 or something like that? Came from the fact that Kessel did not back check.
I'll say this much, he may not be scoring, but at the same time, he's not really costing us any goals either. - ILoveLamp
Are you kidding? The guy's been playing big minutes and has looked awesome. Fitness level has nothing to do with this.
i dunno about that, id say he is not in his best shape, but he is certainly trying harder both ways of the ice.
do you really think Phil works out really really hard? no. lol - hes a natural born sniper. he trains im sure, but not like some of the guys.. - big_dion
still, he wouldn't be getting the big minutes if he couldn't keep up.
The issue's entirely in his head, I think.
He's sitting on 99 goals as a Leaf, and scorers always seem to stall up on milestone goals.
So he offered kadri/bozak.... canucks turn it down, then he says he is no offering youth and you do not see an inconsistency?
Circular arguments.
why it becomes always "us vs them"... it's always a dumb argument and does not advance any conversation.
There is more to witty conversation than just always taking the negative.
Besides, after posting the dead dog gif, you have been demoted in my books.

All Gillis does is try and create hype for his goalies so someone will bite. Of course he's going to say he turned down a huge package, even if it was never offered.
