Well, Luongo is a top 5 "Vezina type" goalie, and they decided Schneider is even better, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect Schneider to win 6 Vezinas, 2 Harts, and be inducted in the HOF first ballot. - Leeman4Gilmour

Oh sorry you're not familar with the term...look up Turk Broda, Al Rollins, Harry Lumley, Terry Sawchuk and Johnny Bower...while you're at it, look up "Stanley Cup".....take a picture....or draw it with your crayons for future memory....while you're at it and if you have time before your medication, look up the word "Legend" in the dictionary...and see if you can learn to count to 12...then STFU AND GTFO |

Sweet Lord of Muffins! I leave for 15 minutes and all sence of propriety is lost!
I think --- the bottom line --- the real deal ---- the final word --- the straight poop --- is that both RL and CS are better than most and have brilliant games more often than most. They both fit verty well with Vancouver's style. As for top 3, top 5, Vezina, Jennings (which they did actually win) --- we can only answer that in a few years although from where I sit right now, I think they are both elite ---- but so are 12 others.... none of those 12, though, are Reimer and Scrivens... maybe one day they will be. |

Well, that is just my own opinion I suppose but not only are his stats over the past few seasons better than Lou's (although less games played) and, in fact, he currently holds all time Canuck records for Save Percentage at .928 and Goals Against Average at 2.24.
So I am not without some proof here. Also, CS is 26. He was brought up in the minors slowly and had very strong development. His fundamentals are sound.
Also, maybe we are having some disagree on elite. What I mean by that is that he is a #1 goalie (or shared #1)on a very strong franshise. So by using 'elite' only puts him in the compnay of 10 or so others our of the 60 - 70 currently playing.
By no means am I saying he is historically elite or anything. |

Even though I don't agree with this statement 100% (90%), it is still the most levelheaded non-trolling comment from from a canuck fan on this thread today...therefore I respect your heartfelt opinion...have a great weekend |

well pretty much you would only use elite to describe historically or possibly like a top 3 list or something but anyway... i still dont see how schnieder has become a goalie that can play 60-70 games? he still hasnt done it... its like when leaf fans says kessel is a 50 goal scorer... no he isnt.. right now hes a consistent 35ish goal scorer who has a good chance to hit 40.... has schnieder even play a stretch of games of more than 20 games when he was considered the starter? at least reimer has proven he can play 35 of 37 with consistency... because hes actually done that before |

I doubt Gillis is thrilled about Luongo's play. He's sort of in a worst-case scenario right now. The guy he wants to keep has been mediocre at best and the guy he's trying to get rid of has been rock solid. Usually when a guy you're trying to trade plays good hockey that's a great thing, but it this case I don't think it has any bearing on his trade value. There hasn't been much doubt that Luongo is a fantastic goalie, he's been putting up numbers like this in the regular season for years. The issue is the contract and that hasn't changed. Sucks to be Gillis right now. |

while he has played pretty good....5 games is not enough time to gauge consistancy.
Hopefully he keeps it up. - yemrots
He's finally looking like a confident back up goalie. |

Gillis is reaping the rewards of handling the situation so poorly publically.
He never should have hinted/let on at any point that luongo was the odd man out. He was begging for some goalie controversy.
Just another brutal decision gillis has made in Vancouver. |
