You didn't just disagree you're the one that started running his mouth because you didn't like my statement,
- SpoiledByOil

i pointed out some stats, and said that you saying he was at yandles level right now was crazy. if that leads you to go insane, writing F this and you're an F-ing that, then so be it. i was talking ONLY hockey, and you decided to take it and make it personal. i'm very civil with pretty much every other oiler fan, even when we disagree on certain points...i think you need to learn how to control your temper.

i agree with you, i also think PRV is bashed a little too much. my earlier post wasn't meant to bash his overall game, but simply pointing out the fact that due to his lack of performance early in the year, it makes the decision to send him down a little easier. that being said, i was unaware of the horcoff situation, and needign a center.

i'd take PRV on my team anyday. i dont' think his value in a trade is what it used to be, which is where i think people get frustrated with clouts, who still thinks PRV could land a top pairing d-man.

Ideally, down the road Paajarvi could turn into a 'Pittsburgh winger' so to speak: a guy like Dupuis/Kunitz/Talbot/Kennedy on occasion that plays a defensively conscious game and despite not being a guy to form a line around, he's a guy that knows how to benefit from playing with higher end players.

that would be a fair comparison. i think he has the potential to be better, whether he reaches or not is anohter thing entirely. i think, using ottawa players as an example, he reminds me of a foligno type guy (even though foligno isn't in ottawa anymore), 15-20 goals, 45 points, plays everywhere type guy.

Playing with Horcoff and the third line on the 29th place team in the NHL is hardly a place to pad your stats. Maybe if he played with the first or second line his stats would be more flattering? But whatever is your opinion I guess. We like the way his game has changed with the roll he has been given.

Zibanejad was a 6th pick to MPS's 9th, and he's playing on the fourth line with scrubs and put up a point per game in both games while playing solid defense.

Truth is MPS is not what he was projected to be. The oilers are not exactly stacked in the bottom 6, if he deserved a spot he'd get one and they'd waive some clown like Eager or Belanger. He didn't outplay these guys, how good can he be?

It's been 3 seasons, and he's done nothing.

They would waive a player and risk losing them because one player is injured for one game on a road trip? That's terrible asset management.

Eager's hurt, Belanger's a centreman. Horcoff's hurt. Research... And who says a team that carries Darcy Hordichuk is an expert talent evaluator? This is the Oilers, they dont always make the best choices.

Actually what I said was Schultz is a better offensive defenseman, but you know 1 season over 50 points makes Yandle a perennial allstar, hard to argue that
- SpoiledByOil

You just can't make that claim after 6 games, man.

If he leads the league in scoring or bests Yandle by 10 points by seasons end, go ahead and say it - but not right now.

ya he is. i was speaking more figuratively i guess... but ya he's toast for the year.
But the oil obviously need to be tougher.. playing hordichuk don't work lol. we need guys like fistric and greene who make a forwards life a living hell in the corners..... guys like regehr.. kevin bieksa( hate him so much) lol, douglas murray in san jose. those types of guys.

- SPIbanez

You can have regehr. What do you want for him? Salary dump?

Yeah. And while we're at it, let's not treat zib like a ppg player after 2 games...

I'm not denying i'm an assshole.... i know i am... and i responded harshly to your intial harsh posts... so that kinda makes us both bumholes... but i like the Sens and usually like their fans.... and trust me i'm not a homer, i've never said anything anyone can consider ridiclous or homer like about any oiler player except for Schutlz... but I truly believe he is a better OFFENSIVE dman than Yandle, Yandle is the better all around defenseman though... a bit too early to say that? probably.. I still believe it to be true though...

well to be fair, i've edited my post to reflect that I overstated it. He didn't call him ppg, but he did praise a two-game sample size...just saying that's the kind of hype that sets you up for Gagner/Paajarvi "disappointment"

believe me, my expectations of zibby are very guarded. i believe he has a high ceiling in terms of overall game, but i don't think he'll ever be a huge point producer. i'm hoping, at best, for a patrice bergeron type player (only little more physical), 20-25 goals and 55 pts while being solid in all 3 zones, and at worst, a chris kelly type player. (not sure why i'm using all bruins to compare, just first players to pop into my head)

That's what I thought too, until I saw him play the game.

Last two games he's been the best Sens forward bar none. Be interesting to see if he can keep it up once the thrill of breaking into the league wears off a bit.

My point wasn't to refer to him as a PPG player, morbo, it was to say that he *forced* Paul McLean and Murray to keep him up in the bigs with his play. Something MPS hasn't managed to do in 2 full seasons in NA.

Which is great, because if you can get a few more years out of Spezza, it gives you some pretty solid depth down the middle.

I'm still a little confused as to why Ottawa drafter Zib and acquired Turris to fill essentially the same role, but depth at centre certainly hasn't hurt the top teams in the NHL.

I think the point he was trying to make was that our 3rd and 4th lines are more or less a void offensively and used in the defensive zone, so expecting some offensive production at even strength from someone like Paajarvi isnt a good bet.

i totally got your point, and agree with it. wasn't trying to criticize. my biggest concern with zibby will be his ability to stay healthy, considering he's already had a couple of concussions, and he plays a physical type game.

i also try to remain guarded with prospects, well cuz lets face it, we've had more then our fair share of giant flops. sometimes it's hard not to get overly excited, like with when players are SUPER HYPED like rundblad and silvferberg, but still try.
