I agree, Paajarvi won TSN's goal of the year in his rookie campaign. He led the sweedish team during the world juniors when he played. He is big and he lack confidence. Edmonton is a team that has too many rookies to give this guy a fair shot like they did Gagner when he struggled. Now Gagner is leading the team in points where just 2 years ago he was on their 4th line.

I think everyone can agree that Paajarvi started with more raw talent than Gagner did. I wish Edmonton would retire Smyth and give this guy a fair shot but whatever team gets him could get a 50 goal scorer. Even last year TSN was ranking him as a high prospect. There are still scouts that see this potential in him and given the ice team and confidence, I don't think it is a stretch.

As for Mason, we have all seen moments of brilliance from him. If Dubnyk can be made into a starter and Kipper can go from a prospect to an Elite goalie in a year, there is no reason to believe that Mason has the potential to be a strong starter. Maybe not of Kipper's caliber but I think he can be better than Dubnyk.

In fact I think Columbus has tons of ice time for a strong player like Paajarvi and with his size and speed matching Dubinsky, it might spark a strong fast second line for them. Plus Edmonton has no backup goalie and could really use a 1B goalie for games when Duby lets in 6 goals in the first period. Maybe these two could be the trading partners the other is looking for.

Leafs are decent on the wings, However i'd be interested in seeing him spend a year with Eakins and see how much he improves.

I'd say the leafs could give up a defensive prospect such as the 2nd rounder they drafted Jesse Blacker someone like Cody franson might work as well.. Problem is Franson is offensive and not exactly a Defensive body crushing Dman.. even though he's a big boy at 6"5

Leafs are very deep on defense so i can see them making a move.

Morgan Rielly, Matt finn, and Stuart percy, Jesse Blacker.. Makes me excited for the future..

Especially when you add guys like Gardiner into that group of young players.

MPS has upside though and with kadri now playing Center it opens up room for us to add another young winger with skill. Seems like Tambo never makes trades though.. have a hard time picturing him moving MPS..

Which leafs D man would Edmonton fans be happy with for MPS? if given an option of Franson or Blacker? Leafs wouldn't move Matt finn even though he's a second rounder he was projected to go top 15 on a few scouts lists. While MPS was an even earlier 1st round his stock has fallen a bit.

Kinda like the return Kyle Turris got as a 3rd overall pick. Nothing close to what you'd think. but he's finding his way now with the sens..

I don't know how much Edmonton is looking for a D prospect. They would love to pry one of Toronto's top 5 d men from them in a package deal but I hope at least they aren't looking for someone not NHL ready by next year. Schultz changed their needs to some degree. With Smid and Nick Schultz being solid defensive shut down guys and Petry emerging as an amazing 2 way dman, they need to really upgrade Ryan Whitney right now. Who is their 6th pairing.

They have Oscar Klefbom and David Musil who are amazing D prospects and Klefbom is going to do amazing things for the team next year. He was ready this year but they didn't have room for him and he wanted to finish his contract out in Europe so they let him stay there but if you look at TSN's top players under 24, he is high on the list. He could have J. Schultz like impact but in a defensive fashion. Edmonton's D is not amazing but this is Schultz first year and he is playing the most minutes. Petry is really on his third year and gets better every game. Smid and N. Schultz are role playing D that could be upgraded but not needed.

Edmonton either needs to upgrade Whitney, get a backup goalie or a third line Center (or top 6 player/prospect). They have the ability to offer a lot for them in terms of great prospects, Ales Hemsky, Ryan Whitney, extra players in all positions and the lack of need for their first round and 2 second round picks next year. I don't see Toronto being the best trading partner for them though as they want to challenge now rather than bring more prospects into the fold.

You watch all the Oilers games like I have? I think it is a numbers game (his contract being two way/injuries). His stats may not be awesome just yet, but he is playing solid. Best I have seen from him. He is going to be back in the NHL ASAP. He is bringing it when he is on the ice. But I guess that is hard to see from the sports page in Ontario?

Also what Ralph Krueger said about two way contract I think also backs up my thesis too.

Paajarvi is a good young player, despite what others say on here. He just happens to be on a team with a boatload of really good young guys. He's not a third or fourth liner, and the top two lines are already stacked.

If the price was right, I'd take him
