If the Hawks can light up Luongo.... I know thats a massive IF at this point in time but If the Hawks can make Luongo look silly again then Vancouver will have even more goalie related dressing room turmoil.
Hawks PP has been better this year so let Vancouver take dumb after the whistle penalties if they want. 5 on 5 the Hawks are a deeper team.
If Saad finishes tonight with 0 points it should be his last nite on the top line for a while.

If the Toews - Hossa LINE finishes with 0 points....

I have a bad feeling about tonight. I could see a 5-2 Hawk loss. One key is surviving the 1st 10 minutes. They will be fired up and hitting everything. Another key is the powerplay. Vancouver will take some dumb penalties

Will Q match up Bolland-Kane-Sharp against the Sedins or Kruegers line?
- jhawk159

If it's me I say Bolland's line.

But against better teams there you have the tradeoff at least on paper....Which in essence means Toews and Hossa better be productive.

I think it's the other way around. If Lou shuts down the Hawks it creates more controversy.
- golfingsince

I agree.

If he pitches another shutout tonight, how could Vigneault not roll with him as the #1 for the near future...

With no Kesler on the other side, don't be surprised if Q uses the opportunity to see what he's got in terms of checking on the 3rd line. I believe that he'll start by matching Shaw's line with the Sedins line, and try and get one of or both the Toews and Bolland line vs the other Canuck lines which are severely depleted since the last time these teams played.

The 2008 team that lost to Detroit in 09 was a pretty team that played the perimeter. They lost. The Cup team crashed the net and won. This team plays the perimeter so far. They can be pretty all they want, but they need someone to emerge as a grit man in front of the net. they need more than one, too.
- DirkGraham

That player isn't on the roster though. The GM doesn't go out and get one and the head coach doesn't seem to try and put someone in that role to learn it. It's very annoying.

That would be a big test. If Shaw's line could handle the twins, that should be a huge factor moving forward. The twins can make checking lines scramble with their cycle. Either way, games between these two are always unpredictable. However, I don't expect a free-for-all gladiatorial bout tonight, but that's about it.

I hope it is a typical game between the Hawks and Canucks . It is a great rivalry.

Better to take the "big tests" now than in April...err...May this season. Find out what you really have now and adjust accordingly moving forward. That's what I would do. But of course, there's a reason Q has 600+ wins and I have....let me see...4, plus 2...carry the one....exactly zero! lol

What's going on with your fellow Canucks fans on the CDC, many are they going wacko over there. I understand the anger at Keith, but they take it to far.

Could easily happen because that line is for all practical purposes only those two guys.

Only way Hawks have a shot in this one is to not give the Nucks power play chances, and if Roszival is in instead of Brookbank.

It is dumb. Even the radio station yesterday trying to rile up Bieksa . Kids .

Bieksa didn't want any part of that crap.

1 ) Last time a Canuck seeked revenge he got suspended for a year.
2) If they are seeking revenge they are not concentrating on the game.

I hope there are alot of hard hits and maybe even a fight or two as usual ,no revenge ir required . Keep it all legal.

If that is what they are relying on God help us all. Shaw's lines vs the sisters......please. Maybe for a shift or two at best.....

I am not talking about a top six forward, though an Andrew Ladd would be amazing. These types are unaffordable. I am talking about youngish guys who have 2 or 3 years experience, who are being used as bottom 6 role players and paid accordingly and while I am hesitant to throw names out, a guy like Marcus Foligno in Buffalo, Ryan Carter in New Jersey or maybe a Matt Martin or Zack Smith on the Island and in Ottawa respectively. Before you pick apart each name keep in mind I don't have the knowledge or resources to research each player fully that is what SB has a scouting staff for. What the Hawks need are 2 players who play a more physical style to compliment the existing roster. And in answer to who they give up it is obvious they have to give up equal or better talent in exchange.
- paulr

In your opinion, would Carcillo's return fill one of those two spots?

I took an extra lap in leiu of not having a cup ring, thanks good tip.

Agree, Bolland has a cup, but agree to disagee on who is dirtier him or Alex. Alex has pulled some beauty moves over his carreer no question, but he generally starts the game playing hockey and only goes all dirty when the game dictates it. Bolland is only on the ice for 1 reason, stir poop up...and then when he does he never, ever backs it up, frick the guy doesn't even turtle cause you'd have to show up to turtle.

He may go out and check the opposing teams best player, and when it's a player who he knows won't fight him he pulls out is book of crap. But we both know he won't do that poop to Jamie Benn, Iginla, Thorton etc...only the Sedins of the league...big frigging baby.

So to sum up...1 cup for Bolland, but still a douche and for the love of the game, someone get him a better fitting helmet - perhaps Rebook can make a rat sized one for him

Bolland got to Thornton plenty in the 2010 playoffs. Sorry, but this is the best video I could find of it quickly.

Got him across the foot pretty good too, if I remember correctly. He should wear skates more like mine...armored.

This seems a very similar situation to early last season and (to a lesser degree) the year before that. Both times the Canucks underwealmed to start the season and the Hawks started fairly well. Both times the Hawks spanked the Canucks on the circus trip and Vancouver went on a tear after that.

I predict a 5-2 Hawks win. The Canucks then go on another ungodly roll and get back in the President's Trophy race. Something like 14-2-3

Didn't feel like going back and finding the quote, but someone said the Sharks haven't played anyone with speed yet. Haven't they beaten the Oilers twice? The Oil outskated the Hawks for the most part last year by a lot.
