Stanley cup jokes!

You must have stayed up all night writing those ones.

- Mattjd123

Probably as long as you stayed up writing that response. Guess your mom didnt check that sentence for grammer. Go back to Esplen's blog with your pollution.

I took an extra lap in leiu of not having a cup ring, thanks good tip.

Agree, Bolland has a cup, but agree to disagee on who is dirtier him or Alex. Alex has pulled some beauty moves over his carreer no question, but he generally starts the game playing hockey and only goes all dirty when the game dictates it. Bolland is only on the ice for 1 reason, stir poop up...and then when he does he never, ever backs it up, frick the guy doesn't even turtle cause you'd have to show up to turtle.

He may go out and check the opposing teams best player, and when it's a player who he knows won't fight him he pulls out is book of crap. But we both know he won't do that poop to Jamie Benn, Iginla, Thorton etc...only the Sedins of the league...big frigging baby.

So to sum up...1 cup for Bolland, but still a douche and for the love of the game, someone get him a better fitting helmet - perhaps Rebook can make a rat sized one for him

First off, Bolland shut Thornton down in the 2010 playoffs, so that point is irrelevant. Thornton is a big guy, but he doesn't often throw down and resorts to cheap shots, like punching Toews in the head last season and being an overall bag-o-$hit.

You also note that because Burrows "makes marvelous plays" and generally "plays hockey first" implies that he can get a pass for being dirty?! Hair pulling, cheap shots, biting, etc. can be ignored because he is skilled?!

Bear in mind Bolland also has an underrated offensive part of his game (which since he is getting a shot as our 2C might make him less underrated in that aspect) and he scored some wonderful goals, especially short handed, against many teams, including your Nucks in the playoffs (like when he had pavol demitra draped on his back and still scored against Loungo shorthanded).

He has also been one of the best checking centers in the league, and he's done it very well in the playoffs. Both can play hockey, both have different roles, but being an agitator and pissing of the other team is far more relevant for one than the other.

So does Bolland. You guys love having him on your team, and we love having Burrows on ours.

Every team has 1 or 2.. I don't know what people get so bent out of shape about.

Valid Points, but didnt Bolland shut down Thornton in the 2010 Cup run? I believe he did. Like I said Burrows has a good shot and pretty good hands, but carries himself poorly.
- nickmo2699

Thornton usually shuts himself down in the playoffs...so that was probably a bad example on my part, sorry bout that.

Should only take a period or two for one of the best hockey rivalries going to get fired back up again.

I think it comes down to the fact that this is a great rivalry and the games are usually very fun to watch and both teams and fan bases hate each other. If there was not hate it would be boring. Like the Blue Jackets, nobody hates them becasue nobody cares.

I'm a bit confused on that one...Burrows does stupid poop but I can't remember any cheap shots or him trying to hurt players.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Can we agree that when push comes to shove, Bolland is a coward that has yet to answer for his antics?
- fiveandagame

A coward my good man? A foul mouthed weasel perhaps but never a coward. But he's our guy just like Mr. Burrows is yours. Though it has to be much harder to stick up for a guy that bites fingers and pulls hair; and that's just what he does on the ice!

St. Louis was a big win and IMO this would be just as big.

I never really know what to expect when playing Vancouver..

- pri$ey

It might be a big win for the Hawks because of the rivalry but beating a great team like the Blues is more impressive than beating the Canucks without Kesler and Booth.

Not sure why everyone refers to Burrow's biting incident as dirty...if you think about it, its friggin funny. The whole hockey world is watching the SCFinals and he bites someone on the finger...that's gold Jerry, gold!

Also Tim Hunter bit Domi on the finger in a scrum once too...was funny then as well.

Finally so we're clear with no bias, if someone bit Burrows on the finger...it'd be funny too.

Its safe to say that Burrows and Bolland are both hate/love players depending on what side of the fence you're on. Either way, if take both of them on my team if I were a GM. Imagine the 2 of them together on a line where they're protected by a tough guy....

Burrows had to fight, scratch and bite, both literally and figuratively, just to get into and stay in the league. Bolland made the NHL and has stayed because of his merit as a hockey player from an early age.

I don't know what your point is.

Burrows was undrafted and made the NHL, yes good research.

Bolland and the word merit in the same sentence is a bit of an oxymoron, don't you think?

But hey we could spin these tires all day.

Should be a great game!

Actually, neither one made sense. There was an incident a few years ago, against Nashville or Columbus maybe? Burrows came up high to hit someone, can't remember who.

You have a great username but I have to take exception with the biting is funny comment.

What if say he poked him in the eyes with his fingers, or somehow got his arm through the sleeve of the opponent's jersey and whirled around getting two opposing players to repeatedly hit each other each time he turned around? Now that's funny!
